Examining a recent case in which the U.S. Supreme Court approved the collection of blood and urine samples from railroad employees, the authors conclude that, in attempting to improve railroad safety, both majority and minority opinions reflected undue emphasis on technical issues and inadequate attention to the intangible social values underlying traditional Constitutional rights to privacy.

The Safety Risks Of Proposed Fuel Economy Legislation, John D. Graham

Based on, e.g., a comprehensive assessment of what is known of factors influencing automobile safety, previous industry responses to requirements for fuel economy and prior success of regulators in reducing injuries, Professor Graham concludes that pending fuel economy bills are apt to add 1650 fatalities and 8500 serious accidents to the annual highway toll. He also presents several short-term and long-term strategies for simultaneously saving fuel and lives.

All farmsteads periodically should be evaluated for potential hazards and conditions that could lead to injury, death, or premature building failure or loss. Some hazards develop with time and are easily overlooked. Others are the result of poor planning or just being "too busy." Mixing, safety, restrictions, and precautions for insecticides used to control external swine parasites.
Hog Lice and Mange Mites
External parasites of swine include the hog louse and two species of mange mites (the common itch mite and the less common hog follicle mite). Excessive scratching and rubbing by pigs nearly always indicate an infestation of hog lice or mange mites.
Hog lice and mange mites infest a high percentage of swine slaughtered at Midwest slaughter plants.

KENTUCKY'S TRAFFIC ACCIDENT FACTS report for 1992 is based on accident reports submitted to the Accident Unit housed in the Kentucky State Police Information Services Branch, Records Section. As required by Kentucky Revised Statutes 189.635, "every law enforcement agency whose officers investigate a vehicle accident of which a report must be made .. . shall file a report of the accident ... within ten days after investigation of the accident upon forms supplied by the bureau.· The stated purpose of this requirement is to utilize data on traffic accidents" for such purposes as will improve the traffic safety program in …
