The Blaeser Training Taxonomy, Timothy Blaeser
Doctorate in Education
This research was undertaken to determine the efficacy of using andragogy, assessment, and quality control for training in a modern industrial workplace, with findings indicating that these modern training techniques can be implemented with success in this context. While andragogy, pioneered by Knowles, has been used in many areas of adult education, it has not been found to be commonly used in the industrial workplace. The study focused on Finnish trainers using the Blaeser Training Taxonomy – a training program utilizing elements of andragogy and assessment wrapped into quality control. Using a mixed methods questionnaire, trainers reported their training results, …

Principal Preparation For The Bahamas: A Partnership Approach, Raquel R. Edgecombe
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Current literature has investigated university-district partnerships in numerous ways; however, based on a review of the literature, no study has sought the insights of potential partners about the partnership arrangement prior to the start of the partnership agreement. The purpose of this study was to explore educational leadership practitioners’ understandings of partnership in principal preparation. This inquiry was guided by the following research questions: (a) How do educational stakeholders perceive the ideal partnership arrangement for the preparation of principals; and (b) In what ways do the perspectives of educational stakeholders reflect broader discourse about the quality of educational leadership preparation? …
Driving Health Care Results With Authenticity, Kindness, And Vulnerability: A New Model Of Authentic Leadership, John D. Couris
Driving Health Care Results With Authenticity, Kindness, And Vulnerability: A New Model Of Authentic Leadership, John D. Couris
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Current management scholars have defined authentic leadership as consisting of four dimensions: relational transparency, self-awareness, balanced processing, and internalized moral perspective. This research extends the concept of authentic leadership to include kindness and vulnerability. I created two scales to measure kindness and vulnerability within the context of leadership and used them to examine perceptions of authentic leadership and its impact on three organizational outcomes: trust in one’s leader, work engagement, and psychological safety. Using a two-group, pretest-posttest experimental design, 44 Tampa General Hospital managers were either selected to participate in a four-hour authentic leadership training that included instruction on kindness …

Almost every type of cybersecurity incident leverages one or more social engineering attacks. Nowadays social engineering attack is considered one of the most significant threats to individuals and organizations. It is an attacking technique that manipulates and deceives users to access or gain privileged information. Cybersecurity training is an effective defense method to enhance people's awareness of social engineering attacks, especially training through game playing or educational games. However, fewer tools can customize social engineering simulations based on user's characteristics and needs. Some social engineering training tools are lack motivation, engagement, and interaction.
Gamification is the use of game elements …

Deception Of Resistance And The Effects On Muscular Fitness And Perceived Exertion, Tyler Mchenry
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Resistance training has been a popular tactic that individuals have used to increase muscular fitness for decades. Muscular fitness includes muscular endurance, strength, and power. However, limitations such as self-efficacy and the Central Governor Theory may influence individual maximal performance ability. One training tactic that has been rarely researched is the deception of resistance during exercise, which is assumed to increase performances in all aspects of muscular fitness and improvements in perceived effort. Inconsistent results have been concluded from previous studies that have examined the same topic. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of resistance …

The Effectiveness Of A Diversity And Inclusion Intervention In Higher Education In The Context Of Covid-19, Katherine Brown D'Souza
All Dissertations
Previous research has shown that diversity in the workplace can have varying effects, depending on how well organizations manage their workforce diversity (Mor Barak et al., 2016). When organizations properly manage their workforce, they can reap the benefits of diversity while avoiding the pitfalls. Diversity training interventions are one way many organizations choose to manage their diverse workforces effectively while creating organizational climates of inclusion (Kalinoski et al., 2013). The present study explored the impact of four different diversity training interventions designed to promote greater awareness of gender and racial bias in academia and to promote bias reduction efforts. Compared …

Exploring The Relation Between Musical And Dance Sophistication And Musical Groove Perception, Samantha R. O'Connell
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
Listening to groovy music is an enjoyable experience and a ubiquitous human behavior in some cultures. Specifically, many listeners agree that high-groove songs are enjoyable, familiar, and likable compared to low-groove songs. While the pleasurable and dance-inducing effects of musical groove listening seem omnipresent, what is less known is how subjective feelings towards music, individual musical or dance experiences, or more objective musical perception abilities are correlated with the way we hear music with groove. Therefore, the present online study aimed to evaluate how musical and dance sophistication relates to musical groove perception. One-hundred and twenty-four participants completed an online …

Obesity and physical inactivity are two factors that have been shown to be correlated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes. As people have increasingly busier schedules, they have less time to commit to exercise. Accumulating exercise in small bouts is a schedule-friendly alternative to longer continuous bouts of exercise and may protect against CVD and diabetes. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the effects of accumulated exercise compared to continuous exercise on body composition, fitness, and resting metabolic rate. Nine healthy male (n=4) and female (n = 5) volunteers were randomized into either an accumulated intervention group …

Resident Assistants And Title Ix: The Hypocrisy Of Compelled Disclosure, Samantha Contrini
Theses and Dissertations
Resident Assistants juggle various roles as student staff members to ensure residents are supported and safe. Yet, RAs are widely considered to be some of the most under-trained and ill-prepared employees on college campuses (Letarte, 2012). At many institutions, RAs are considered Responsible Employees under Title IX which means they are required to report instances of sexual misconduct when they are made aware of them. Often times, this is done against the will of the survivor; a phenomenon referred to as compelled disclosure (Holland et al., 2018). The purpose of this study was to explore the potential harm caused to …

A Jsm Approach To Modern Bias In Employment Interviews And Possible Remediation, Alexander Nassrelgrgawi
Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)
In the last 10 years, the EEOC saw a 200% increase in the number of ethnic based discrimination charges involving individuals who were perceived to be of an Arab background (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 2017). However, little empirical work has been done to detect and amend this trend. To answer this gap, this investigation examined the expression of modern bias through the lens of the justification-suppression model (Crandall & Eshleman, 2003) in order to detect and explain possible discrimination Arabs may experience during employment interviews. This was done in two studies using participants recruited from Amazon’s Mechanical Turk. Study 1 …
