Determining Adult Perceptions Of Youth On Southern Region Ffa Nominating Committees, Emily Marie Keeton

Southern region state FFA nominating committees utilize adults and students to elect state FFA officers. However, the role of the adult nominating committee members is up to the discretion of the state FFA nominating committee coordinators. In the nine states studied in the southern FFA region, five states utilized adults as voting members of the nominating committee, and four states utilized them as consultants. Adults completed a modified version of the Inventory of Adult Attitudes and Behaviors instrument, and the majority’s preferred style of working with students was “regarding youth as resources.” However, students had mixed feelings about working with …

The purpose of this project is to create visual materials for a classroom that the teacher can use as a supplement for information taught about FFA activities and programs shared with students.

The FFA advisor whose chapter would be the beneficiary of the project was consulted to discuss the best subject material for the posters. One poster was created for Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects, one for Career and Leadership Development Events (CDEs and LDEs), one for the California FFA State Conference, and one for career opportunities in the agricultural industry. This internship and project report includes documentation required in meeting the quality criteria for secondary-level programs of instruction in agriculture. The documents are concurrently used for the Agriculture Incentive Grant review process at Chowchilla Union High School conducted by representatives of the California Department of Education. The supporting material includes information to receive state and local funding, outline the goals and objectives of the program, along with an overview of Chowchilla Union High School, the agriculture program and the community.

The days are packed with recognition, motivational speakers, workshops, and experiences that will last a lifetime. FFA members attending have the privilege of participating in workshops presented by college students including Fresno State, Chico State, UC Davis, and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. These workshops are dedicated to helping develop premier leadership, personal growth, and career success. This work seeks to examine the relationship between intercultural effectiveness and the number of global experiences among secondary agricultural education youth in Kentucky. The study utilizes Mere Exposure Theory and considers the importance of global experiences in increasing their levels of global competence and their performance on the Intercultural Effectiveness Scale (IES). The results indicate that students with a higher number of global experiences and exposures are more open to other cultures and score higher on the IES. In addition, these students are more likely to be self-aware and interested in exploring new cultures and making connections with individuals who …
