Citizen Participation In The Digital Age: An Evaluation Of The Potential Of A Website To Encourage Community Involvement In School Board Issues, Scott Chambers

This paper examines the potential for school board websites to engage the public by promoting a greater understanding of school board issues and accepting feedback and recommendations from the local community. An analysis of school board websites in Ontario was conducted to measure the effectiveness of existing websites as a method for communication. The findings reveal that until school boards provide an incentive for citizens to visit their websites on a regular basis, they will not become a strong way to connect to the community.

Beliefs Of Teachers And Principals Regarding Iste's 2000 Technology Standards For All Teachers, Essington R Wade

The purpose of this study was to ascertain if there were significant differences in the way teachers and principals articulated their beliefs about technology standards for all teachers. In comparing secondary principals to secondary teachers using the statistical instruments, it was found that the variables: secondary levels (middle and high) and positions (principal, English, math, science and social studies teachers) were not significantly different. In addition, the statistical analysis indicated that there were no significant interactions between secondary levels and educational positions. This thesis will focus on the issue of personal privacy and the growing threat to its existence in a technological society.

The areas most associated with privacy loss include increased government intrusions, legislation, workplace, healthcare industry, Internet, and identity theft. Chapter one provides a historical perspective beginning with primitive culture and their struggle to maintain privacy in the lives. Interesting enough, privacy protection was not mentioned by the judicial system until 1880 when privacy was defined as the "right to be left alone."
