Mark Snyder (1974) in his Self-Monitoring (SM) construct proposed there were two ways in which people might be classified: high and low self-monitors. High SM individuals attend to environmental cues and respond to the expectations of a given situation, while low SM individuals respond to their feelings, inner states and personal values. This construct has been extensively researched with adults and children, but not with adolescents.

This study was designed to extend the study of self-disclosure to Japanese culture, and using the concept of ingroup and outgroup relationships, examine the relationship between the level of self-disclosure and perceived social attraction in initial interaction between Japanese strangers. This study examined the relationship of team effectiveness and members' implicit theories of team development. Implicit theories are individuals' preconceptions of the relative importance of team development variables associated with team effectiveness. Team development variables assessed in this study were communication, cohesion, norms, role clarity, conflict, and participation.

The first hypothesis predicted a direct relationship between implicit theories of team development and behavior. Hypothesis one also predicted this relationship would be enhanced by convergence of individual implicit theories with remaining team members' implicit theories. This study investigated the emphasis placed on health-related fitness in Michigan's secondary school physical education system. Information for this study was gathered from questionnaires. A total of 707 questionnaires was sent out, with 421 returned, representing a response rate of 59%. Analyzed variables included: (a) psychomotor, (b) cognitive, (c) socio-economic, (d) frequency, (e) geographical regions, (f) class size, (g) faculty, (h) public/private education, (i) facilities, and (j) evaluation tests. Statistical analyses included percentages, frequencies, and chi squares.

The findings from this study indicated that only two variables, (c) socioeconomic, and (j) evaluation, had a significant effect on fitness education. It …

Recordings were made of seven normal female and eight normal male talkers producing sustained vowels under normal, moderately breathy, and very breathy conditions. Twenty listeners judged the recorded vowel tokens for degree of breathiness using a direct magnitude estimation procedure. A Cronbach coefficient alpha revealed strong intrasubject agreement.

Several acoustic analyses were evaluated by measuring their correlations with the mean of the listeners' breathiness ratings. Measures of cepstral peak prominence in band limited signals were most strongly correlated with perceived breathiness. The purpose of the study was to investigate the construct validity of the two instruments measuring readiness in Situational Leadership: the Readiness Scales--Manager Rating Form and Staff Member Rating Form--developed by Hambleton, Blanchard, and Hersey (1977). The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of decision-making style, and right and left brain function on nurse manager role stress. Data were collected from 48 nurse managers employed at four acute care facilities along the Atlantic seaboard. A nonexperimental correlation descriptive design was utilized to determine if any positive or negative correlation existed between study variables and levels of stress. Findings suggested that nurse managers experienced moderate amounts of role stress, including role conflict and role ambiguity. The purpose of this study was to examine the relative frequency that work-related skills deemed critical by employers appear on the exiting Individualized Education Plans (lEPs) of moderately retarded students (i.e., those labeled trainable mentally impaired students [TMI] in the state of Michigan).

The Hayes Site (40ML139) is located in the central Duck River Basin of Middle Tennessee. Excavations at the site revealed Middle Archaic, late Middle Archaic, and Late Archaic components. An examination of the lithic assemblage from the Hayes Site aids in assessing and building models of hunter-gatherer organization for the central Duck River Basin. An organizational perspective on technology, results from published flintknapping experiments, and a lithic resource survey provide the means of constructing and employing an interpretive framework for understanding prehistoric occupation of the Hayes Site. This study is a contradistinction to research which assesses the effects of exercise only on older adults who are in good health. This study examined the effect of an eight-week exercise program on 24 individuals with mental impairments, primarily Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Subjects were volunteers who resided in a long-term care skilled nursing facility (SNF). Group composition was 7 males, mean age 83.29 and 17 females, mean age 88.71; mental and physical function levels varied from supervised to total dependence of care. The Effects Of Antioxidants On The Flavor And Color Stability Of Prerigor Fresh Pork Sausage, Roger Dean Edens

Fresh prerigor pork sausage links and patties were processed with and without antioxidants to determine if antioxidants had any effect on color or flavor stability. BHA, BHT and citric acid were added for 0% or .003% in finished product. Each of the four treatments were stored at -18°C for 140 days or 4°C for 12 days. Treatments stored at 4°C were analyzed for oxidation (TBA), color, flavor, and psychrophile growth. Treatments stored at -18°C were analyzed for oxidation (TBA) and color. Antioxidants did not reduce oxidation during 4°C storage but links had higher (P<.05) TBA values than patties. Links with antioxidants had higher (P<.05) TBA values than links with no antioxidants. Links had higher Hunter "a" values than patties, but contained 10% less fat. Patties had higher Hunter "L" values, most likely due to higher fat content. Storage temperature had no effect.

This research was conducted to examine students' perceptions and experiences of sexual harassment in higher education. The study was designed and administered in such a way as to address four concerns which have not been effectively handled in previous studies. These specific concerns are as follows: (a) the nonrandom selection of students, (b) the exclusion of males in samples, (c) the limited number of research methods used, and (d) the lack of a standardized definition for sexual harassment.
