Studies Of The Purification Of Nad-Dependent And Nadp-Dependent Isocitrate Dehydrogenase By General Ligand Affinity Chromatography, Geoffrey H. Bertkau
Studies Of The Purification Of Nad-Dependent And Nadp-Dependent Isocitrate Dehydrogenase By General Ligand Affinity Chromatography, Geoffrey H. Bertkau
Chemistry & Biochemistry Theses & Dissertations
Purification of Yeast NAD+-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase was partially successful when utilizing an NAD+-ribosyl-hydrazide Sepharose affinity chromatography column. Although no specific elution system was found, a maximum purification of sixty-five fold was achieved with 0.5M KCl elution. A 38-fold purification was obtained when 20mM NAD+ was employed for elution.
Yeast and calf liver NADP+-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase were also found to bind to NAD+-ribosyl-hydrazide Sepharose as well as the NAD+-dependent enzyme. Again, elution was achieved with either o,5M KCl or 20 mM NADP+.
Ammonium sulfate fractionation decreased the yield …
An Economic Analysis Of Sprinkling For Bloom Delay And Freeze Protection Of Apples In Farmington, Utah, Jay Val Anderson
An Economic Analysis Of Sprinkling For Bloom Delay And Freeze Protection Of Apples In Farmington, Utah, Jay Val Anderson
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The major purpose of this study is to analyze the economic feasibility of bloom delay by sprinkling as a means of protecting delicious apples from frost. The framework of this study is based on decision making theory under uncertainty. It demonstrates the usefulness of the Bayesian approach to determine optimum action to take in face of uncertain climatic conditions. The economic analysis was conducted for Farmington, Utah, where significant relationships were found between the end of winter rest (end of chill-unit accumulation) and time of full bloom of red delicious apples.
A posteriori probabilities for the state of nature were …
Utah Ski Area Use: A Descriptive Analysis, Timothy L. Silva
Utah Ski Area Use: A Descriptive Analysis, Timothy L. Silva
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Use of ski areas in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah has increased rapidly over the last two decades. To facilitate planning and management of programs and facilities designed to meet this need, public and private organizations should have information which delineates the factors affecting use of these ski areas. The objectives of this study were therefore: (1) to determine what factors were responsible for variation in use at Utah ski areas, (2) to determine the relative importance of these factors in explaining ski area use, (3) to ascertain if these variables explaining use differ significantly between two ski seasons, (4) …
Linear Comparisons In Multivariate Analysis Of Variance, Hsin-Ming Tzeng
Linear Comparisons In Multivariate Analysis Of Variance, Hsin-Ming Tzeng
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
The analysis of variance was created by Ronald Fisher in 1923. It is most widely used and basically useful approach to study differences among treatment averages.
Trace Metals In Upper Susquehanna River Ecosystem: Environmental Distribution, Urban Impacts, And Interaction With Sediment Materials, Ibrahim Abdel-Tawab El-Barbary
Trace Metals In Upper Susquehanna River Ecosystem: Environmental Distribution, Urban Impacts, And Interaction With Sediment Materials, Ibrahim Abdel-Tawab El-Barbary
Graduate Dissertations and Theses
Environmental samples from the Upper Susquehanna River Basin [river water (RW) and bottom sediments, municipal wastewaters and sewage sludge, algae and fish] were collected and analyzed for the following Trace Metals (TMs), as appropriate: Pb, Cd, Co, Ni, Cr, Cu, Zn, and total and inorganic Hg. The median and range of TMs found in RW samples help establish baseline values for the Susquehanna River near Binghamton, N.Y. Average total TMs at normal flow ranged from 0.03 μg/1 for Hg to 16 μg/1 for Zn, and the % soluble TMs ranged from 44 to 91%, the average being 70%. A new …
