This thesis is an attempt to develop a guide or handbook on Child Welfare services in the San Francisco Unified School District. San Francisco Unified school District has never had a complete handbook covering all areas of Child Welfare, although many mimeographed papers and booklets (Counseling and Guidance) describing various departments have been written. In this study it is hoped to give a picture of what actually takes place in the field. Work on the copepoda parasitizing anoidiens has been relatively extensive in Europe, loss so on the East Coast of the United States and negligible on the West Coast. of this work, a major portion has been concerned with the solitary ascidians, while the colonial or compound forms have been largely neglected. The apparent lack of interest in copepods parasitizing compound be attributed to the manliness of the animals, their associations with both Zooids and the colonial matrix which makes dissection difficult and the chaotic condition of their taxonomy.

Perhaps the first justification for the inclusion of speech in today’s curriculum is the very evident predominance of oral communication in our lives. Painter has pointed out that “oral communication is the vehicle for 90 percent of the exchange of ideas.”

A second justification for the belief that speech education is important today lies in the fact that our country is a democracy. Mormon contributions to California history are generally well known. Most school children have heard of the march of the Mormon Battalion. The name of Samuel Brannan is known to almost any student interested in this area. The more inquisitive scholar is familiar with the voyage of the BROOKLYN and subsequent relations of the Mormons to the history of San Francisco. The mention of New Hope, however, brings puzzled looks to the faces of most people, including Mormons today living within twenty miles of the area.
