The Development Of A Strategy-Based E-Commerce Planning Model And The Exploration Of Its Applicability., Judith Anne. Decou

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

In the rush to bring their ventures online, organizations may have overlooked or underestimated the role of planning in e-commerce startups. However, no planning model for e-commerce ventures existed. In this thesis, a model is developed to assist practitioners in planning a new e-commerce venture. The model contains seven dimensions of finance, legality, logistics, marketing, operations, security and technology. These seven dimensions surround organizational strategy, the core of the model. Salary Determination In The National Hockey League: The Development Of An Equitable Player Compensation Model., Jess Charles. Dixon

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Nowhere else in North America is the performance of an employee so readily visible and so easily measured than in the sport of professional ice hockey (Banister, 1997). "Although the performance of professional athletes may be objectively measured and compared by the vast quantities of statistics compiled by sports analysts, controversy still surrounds whether their individual efforts justify their salaries" (Banister, 1997, p. 47). NHL salaries have become so disparate in recent years that it is quite common for certain 'marquee' players to earn 10--20 times the salary of other players competing on the same team (Banister, 1997). With 50% …

The Taste Of Globalization: The Wine Industry Of Ontario., Andrea Laura. Della Valle

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

In this thesis I examine the effects of hegemony and globalization on the wine industry of Ontario. The purpose of this thesis is to call attention to the political and economic power system that is controlled by a few key decision makers whose goal is to "naturalize" consumers' taste for wine. Since Prohibition, governmental and industrial agencies have promoted different "tastes" for Ontario's wine in the hopes of gaining a profit. Each change in the promoted "taste" creates a dramatic impact on consumers. Today's goal of the industry is to produce internationally competitive wine and turn Canadians into "natural" wine …

Cognitive Responses And Message Acceptance: An Evaluation Of Alternative Functional Relationships., Stuart. Brockbank Jan 1992

Cognitive Responses And Message Acceptance: An Evaluation Of Alternative Functional Relationships., Stuart. Brockbank

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

An investigation was conducted across two product classes and alternate message appeals to determine the best functional relationship between message acceptance and four independent cognitive responses: support argument, counterargument, source bolstering, and source derogation. A multi-variate regression analysis was employed to compare various linear and non-linear models. The four dependent cognitive structure measures used were attitude toward the brand, and the cognitive, conative, and affective components of the tricomponent attitude model. The results indicate that in general, linear models best explain message acceptance as a function of cognitive response. This investigation is an extension to current literature and has implications …
