Testing Informativeness Of Covariate-Induced Group Sizes In Clustered Data, Hasika K. Wickrama Senevirathne, Sandipan Duttta
Testing Informativeness Of Covariate-Induced Group Sizes In Clustered Data, Hasika K. Wickrama Senevirathne, Sandipan Duttta
Mathematics & Statistics Faculty Publications
Clustered data are a special type of correlated data where units within a cluster are correlated while units between different clusters are independent. The number of units in a cluster can be associated with that cluster’s outcome. This is called the informative cluster size (ICS), which is known to impact clustered data inference. However, when comparing the outcomes from multiple groups of units in clustered data, investigating ICS may not be enough. This is because the number of units belonging to a particular group in a cluster can be associated with the outcome from that group in that cluster, leading …

Psychology: A Newly Developed Scale On Introversion, Emily Cloud, Niya Mckinley, Jenna Jemtrud, Mackenzie Cosgriff
Science University Research Symposium (SURS)
Introversion, the “preoccupation with inner ideas and emotions” (Henjum, 1982, pp. 39-40), is underrepresented in research. It has been considered in research and media to be a less desirable trait and failed achievement of extraversion (Noya & Vernon, 2019). Additionally, many measures fail to accurately present introversion as its own construct, but rather as merely a lack of extraversion. The current study aimed to develop and validate a measure on introversion in relation to extraversion, social involvement, social anxiety, and academic achievement. Belmont University Introductory Psychology students were asked to complete questionnaires on Qualtrics that measured demographics, introversion, extraversion, social …

We analyzed a population-representative cohort (N=13,611; Mage at kindergarten, first, and second grade = 67.5, 79.5, and 91.5 months, respectively) to identify kindergarten to second grade factors predictive of being bullies or victims during third to fifth grade. We did so by estimating a block recursive structural equation model (SEM) with three sets of predictors. These were: (a) individual and school socio-demographics; (b) family distress and harsh parenting; and (c) individual behavior and achievement. Relations between each of the included variables and the bullying outcomes were simultaneously estimated within the SEM. Thus, each variable served as a control …
