Problem: Individuals within the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) community are at greater risk for increased health disparities and inequalities.

Purpose: The purpose of this project was to review evidence related to the following PICO(T) question: What strategies (I) can be employed to reduce health disparities and inequalities (O) in the LGBTQ community (P)?

Methods: The databases Academic Search Premier, CINAHL, MEDLINE, Academic Search Premier, Proquest Central, and LGBT Life were searched using the following terms: health inequalities, health disparities, lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual, queer, and LGBTQ. Needs and Objectives The lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community is a diverse group that, despite recent progress, continues to face health disparities. With 3.4% of US adults identifying as LGBTQ, healthcare providers have a duty to recognize their unique needs [1]. Negative outcomes are as diverse as the community, ranging from young gay men being twice as likely to be hypertensive as their straight peers [2] to lesbian women receiving very rare or no cervical cancer screening [3]. Aim: to examine the attitudes to and knowledge and beliefs about homosexuality, of nurses and allied professionals in two early parenting services in Australia.

Background: Early parenting services employ nurses and allied professionals. Access and inclusion policies are important in community health and early childhood service settings. However, little is known about the perceptions of professionals who work within early parenting services in relation to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender families.
