It is a widely held belief that anthropogenic addition of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere will lead to rapid climate change. It is also a widely held belief that the burning of fossil fuels for power generation is a major contributor to these anthropogenic additions, predominantly the emission of carbon dioxide and the consequential increase in carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.
