This study compares local prevalance rates of college male sexual aggression with those established nationally, and explores variables that may contribute to the development of sexually aggressive college men. A survey of 1682 (M = 619, W = 983) undergraduate students from a mid-sized university revealed rates similar to those found by a national study. Results of discriminant analysis indicated that sexually aggressive men were likely to have more sexual partners, to have been victims of childhood sexual and / or physical abuse, to have had their first sexual intercourse at an earlier age, and to have engaged in higher …

Nerotenze Testosterone Both of those hypotheses nicely provide an explanation for the lifestyles of jealousy: the men do now not need to feed a person else’s offspring. Females want the male to make sure the survival of only her youngsters. Jealousy has not disappeared everywhere, even in nations wherein polygamy is an vintage tradition. Wives are interesting in opposition to each other, trying to exterminate a rival, the older ones oppress the more youthful ones if the husband gives such an opportunity ... In nations wherein monogamy is followed, the concept of the life of a rival can flip the …

The Deanship, Frank Cortez Flores

Frank Cortez Flores

THE DEANSHIP: A DIMENSION OF ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP Abstract This study will investigate the role of the dean as identified in the relevant literature; its purpose is to provide an in-depth analysis of the deanship based on leadership role theory. The description in the literature of effective academic leaders is that these leaders are trustworthy, have a clear vision of their school's future, and are able to inspire a shared vision among divergent individuals and groups (Bennis and Norris, 1985). According to Dibden (1968), academic deans are concerned with the effective functioning of an educational unit, promoting scholarship among faculty, facilitating …

Personality Characteristics Of Direct-Service Personnel In Community Residential Units, Gregory J. Boyle, Peter G. Comer

Gregory J. Boyle

This study examined the personality profile of direct service personnel employed in community residential units for the intellectually disabled. Comprehensive assessment of both the normal and abnormal personality trait domains was carried out for a sample of 110 employees, using the Clinical Analysis Questionnaire (CAQ), a psychometric instrument which provides extensive coverage of the adult personality sphere. Mean CAQ scores for the sample implied a generally satisfactory level of emotional adjustment. Overall, direct service personnel exhibited a non-aberrant profile of personality trait scores across both the normal and abnormal CAQ factors. There was a notable lack of psychopathology. Only the …

Foot And Word In Prosodic Morphology: The Arabic Broken Plural, John J. Mccarthy, Alan Prince Jan 1990

Foot And Word In Prosodic Morphology: The Arabic Broken Plural, John J. Mccarthy, Alan Prince

John J. McCarthy

This article proposes a theory of Prosodic Domain Circumscription, by means of which rules sensitive to morphological domain may be restricted to a prosodically characterized (sub-)domain in a word or stem. The theory is illustrated primarily by a comprehensive analysis of the Arabic broken plural; it is further supported by analysis of a number of processes from other languages, yielding a formal typology of domain-circumscription effects. The results obtained here depend on, and therefore confirm, two central principles of Prosodic Morphology: (1) the Prosodic Morphology Hypothesis, which requires that templates be expressed in prosodic, not segmental terms; and (2) the …

P. Gabrielle Foreman

Issues of representation and problematic address are considered in the works of several black women writers, including Zora Neale Hurston and Nella Larsen. These writers "talk out both sides" of their mouths and mediate their messages about representing race, gender and power.

Igbo Names In The Nominal Roll Of Amelié, An Early 19th Century Slave Ship From Martinique: Reconstructions, Interpretations And Inferences, Chukwuma Azuonye

Chukwuma Azuonye

The names discussed in the present paper come from the nominal roll of “212 Africans, all Ibos, who constituted the clandestine freight of Amelié, a slave-ship commissioned at Saint-Pierre, Martinique, and captured by the royal corvettee, Sapho, on February 8, 1822, in the Caribbean Sea." The list was forwarded to me as far back as 1985 through Abiola Irele (then of the University of Ibadan), at the instance of the great Martinique cultural nationalist poet, Aimé Cesaire (1913–2008), by Mme Thesée, a French scholar who was then completing a study of the secret passage of this particular group of slaves. …

Distinguishing Five Models Of Affirmative Action, David B. Oppenheimer Dec 1989

Distinguishing Five Models Of Affirmative Action, David B. Oppenheimer

David B Oppenheimer

For all of the debate, all of the court decisions discussing affirmative action, and all of the articles and books on the subject, there is no consensus on what the term "affirmative action" means. The purpose of this essay is to clarify the issue by identifying and distinguishing five models of affirmative action, and to suggest that the debate focuses too much attention on the use of quotas. I herein propose that in discussing affirmative action we often confuse its many manifestations, which can be grouped into five models: strict quotas favoring women or minorities (Model I); preference systems in …

Gender Differences In Absenteeism, Dow Scott, E L. Mcclellan Dec 1989

Gender Differences In Absenteeism, Dow Scott, E L. Mcclellan

Dow Scott

Investigated employee characteristics and attitudes of 243 female and 105 male secondary school teachers to determine if men and women had different reasons for being absent. Although women perceived some work related factors differently than men and took substantially more days off than men, their absence occurrences were not significantly different. In addition, an employee's age and attitude toward pay were the only factors that exhibited a gender-related impact on absenteeism. Perceived role conflict and job involvement were significantly related to absenteeism for men and women.

Proving Discrimination After Price Waterhouse And Wards Cove.Pdf, Candace Kovacic-Fleischer

Candace Kovacic-Fleischer

INTRODUCTION Anyone involved in litigation under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 19641 or similar state statutes may wonder what is entailed in proving or disproving discrimination after the United States Supreme Court's October 1988 Term. In fact, in the pending Civil Rights Act of 1990, Congress is considering reversing some of what the Supreme Court did during that Term. One of the issues that the Supreme Court addressed during the 1988 Term involved allocating burdens of proof in two major types of Title VII claims, dis- parate-treatment and disparate-impact. Price Waterhouse v. Hopkins, dealt with a disparate-treatment …
