Permanent magnet synchronous machines are becoming attractive in many industrial applications due to their high torque to inertia ratio, higher efficiency , and power density . Interest in Multi-phase motor drives has considerably increased during last few years. The main applications of multi-phase machines are in electric traction, electric vehicles, and hybrid vehicles. Multi-phase motor drives have many advantages including higher reliability and power density, and lower torque pulsations at higher frequencies

Based on the Sociocultural Theory of Mind (Vygotsky 2004) this qualitative study explores the development of novice TAs’ cognition in relation to FL teaching and applies dynamic assessment procedures (Sternberg and Grigorenko 2002, Lantolf and Poehner 2004) to the concrete practices of teacher education and supervision. The following questions frame the study: 1) Do novice TAs apply pedagogical knowledge from coursework on FL teaching to their own classroom practices and, if so, how? and 2) How can teacher supervision and specifically the use of dynamic assessment assist in the development of principled practice based on pedagogical content knowledge and not …

A growing strand of economic literature focuses its attention on the relationship between happiness levels and various individual and socioeconomic variables. Recent studies analyze the impact of income, marital status, health, educational levels and other socioeconomic variables on satisfaction with life. A large majority of these studies limit their attention to industrialized countries. In our work, we analyze data for a group of individuals living in a Latin American country (Uruguay) with age 60 or older. We use a rich data set that allows us to test different happiness hypothesis employing four methodological approaches. We find that older people in …
