The Effect Of A New Gelatinous Elastomers Cushion On Reducing Pressure And Temperature, Mu-Jung Kao, Yang-Hwei Tsuang, Chi-Jou Kuo, Jen-Ling Chou, Hung-Wen Wei, Mei-Wun Tsai

Rehabilitation Practice and Science

Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of a new air cell cushion (Elaston cushion) made of gelatinous elastomers, a newly developed material with a novel structure on reducing pressure and temperature. Methods: We compared the pressure and thermal responses of the Elastone cushion to three other available cushions (foam, gel-filled and air-filled villous) and four regular wooden or spongy chair seats. The skin temperature at the buttocks was also continuously measured for eight-hours sitting. Results: The Elastone cushion reduced the peak pressure (39.7 mmHg) compared with foam (60.0 mmHg), gel-filled (60.3 mmHg) and air-filled cushions (69.3 …

Comparative Study Of Temperatures Used In Silicone Impregnation Of Porcine Hearts Plastination, Damri Darawiroj, Adisorn Adirekthaworn, Sayamon Srisuwattanasakul, Kongkiat Srisuwattanasakul Dec 2010

Comparative Study Of Temperatures Used In Silicone Impregnation Of Porcine Hearts Plastination, Damri Darawiroj, Adisorn Adirekthaworn, Sayamon Srisuwattanasakul, Kongkiat Srisuwattanasakul

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Forced impregnation process is normally performed under vacuum at freezing temperature which requires expensive plastination apparatus. To reduce the cost in the plastination process, forced impregnation of porcine hearts under two different environments, which are at the freezing temperature (-20oC) and at room temperature (22-25oC), was compared. Twelve porcine hearts were collected from a slaughter house, and divided into the groups, six in each, and subjected to be plastinated by S10 standard technique at the two temperatures. Although the forced impregnation at room temperature, also the curing process, was more time-consuming, all hearts from both groups produced satisfying plastinated specimens. …

Simultaneous Measurement Of Deformation And Temperature Of High-Strength Concrete At Very Early Age To Determine The Initial And The Finial Setting Time, Shu-Ken Lin, Chung-Ho Huang, Chao-Shun Chang, Tsong Yen, Chung-Hao Wu, Yiching Lin Apr 2010

Simultaneous Measurement Of Deformation And Temperature Of High-Strength Concrete At Very Early Age To Determine The Initial And The Finial Setting Time, Shu-Ken Lin, Chung-Ho Huang, Chao-Shun Chang, Tsong Yen, Chung-Hao Wu, Yiching Lin

Journal of Marine Science and Technology

The interior shrinkage deformation and temperature change of high-strength concrete (HSC) at very early age, i.e., the first 24 h from casting, and up to an age of 72 h was investigated experimentally using optic fibre sensors (SOFO) and thermally sensitive resistors. The initial and the final setting times of HSC were also investigated. Results show that two turning points (I and II) on the development curve of deformation, both represent the onsets of the variation of rigidity in fresh HSC, can be recognized as the initial and the final setting times, which are evaluated around 4.5 h to 5.7 …

Temperature Dependent Development Of The Egg-Larval Parasitoid Chelonus Oculator On The Factitious Host, Ephestia Cautella, Hi̇lal Tunca, Cem Özkan, Ahmet Neşet Kilinçer Jan 2010

Temperature Dependent Development Of The Egg-Larval Parasitoid Chelonus Oculator On The Factitious Host, Ephestia Cautella, Hi̇lal Tunca, Cem Özkan, Ahmet Neşet Kilinçer

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Development, fecundity, and longevity of the egg-larval parasitoid Chelonus oculator Panzer (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) were studied on the factitious host, Ephestia cautella (Walker) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) at 4 different temperatures (15 °C, 20 °C, 25 °C, and 30 °C). Developmental time from egg to adult was inversely related to temperature. Egg to adult development time ranged from 188 days at 15 °C to 28 days at 30 °C. Complete development required 489 degree-days with a developmental threshold of 12.5 °C. Adult male and female longevity ranged from 43 days at 20 °C to 17 days at 30 °C. Maximum production of offspring …

Pollination Behaviour Of Linum Aretioides Boiss. (Linaceae) And Its Relations With Air Temperature And Humidity, Özcan Seçmen, Aykut Güvensen, Serdar Gökhan Şenol, Sali̇h Gücel Jan 2010

Pollination Behaviour Of Linum Aretioides Boiss. (Linaceae) And Its Relations With Air Temperature And Humidity, Özcan Seçmen, Aykut Güvensen, Serdar Gökhan Şenol, Sali̇h Gücel

Turkish Journal of Botany

Linum aretioides Boiss., a local endemic, is distributed only on 2 mountains (İzmir: Bozdağ; Denizli: Babadağ) at the western part of Turkey between 1630 and 2300 m altitudes, above the tree line. The studies were conducted on Mount Bozdağ above the ski complex between 1750 and 2150 m, and on Mount Babadağ between 1630-2300 m both located at subalpine zones. Four 8 × 8 m quadrats on Bozdağ and 5 on Babadağ were used for the experiments. The development of reproductive structures of plants and frequency of insect visits were observed from early May to late June in 2006 and …
