Encapsulation of bentonite-Ca-alginate was employed for discharge of Cs+, Sr2+, UO22+ and Co2+ from aquatic solution. Preferable pH for elimination of these ions was 5.5. For radiation stability, bentonite-Ca-alginate was investigated; a 60Co source was used to expose it to gamma radiation. Data obtained from (FT-IR) assessed radiation-induced effect on a stability of bentonite-Ca-alginate. Irradiated samples untill 100 kGy do not impair an absorption of an ions examined. In a column application, bentonite-Ca-alginate composite beads were examined for the discharge of these ions from multicomponent solution using fixed-bed column. Effect on column output of various parameters, like bed height, flow …

Correlation Effects On Intramolecular C-H...Oh And O-H...O Hydrogen Bond Interactions In Azelaic Acid: An Ab Initio Study, Sabina Kalata, Alina Huang, Ruben Parra

DePaul Discoveries

Electron correlation effects on both conventional, O-H…O, and nonconventional, C-H…O, intramolecular hydrogen bonds present in a selected azelaic acid folded conformation were evaluated ab initio using HF and MP2 methodologies. The relative strength of the hydrogen bonds was examined through different indicators derived from geometry, vibrational frequencies, and electron density along the hydrogen bond path. The HF method results in weaker O-H…O and C-H…O hydrogen bonds when compared with the corresponding results using the MP2 method. Additionally, the stability of the folded azelaic conformation is found to depend on the level of theory used. Accordingly, the zero-point corrected energies of …

Measurements of conductivity in aqueous solution are recommended for studying the behavior of some dyes. The conductivity of two azo dyes C.I. Acid Red 151 (AR 151) and C.I. Mordant green 17 (MG17) have been studied. The ionization degree, α and Van,t Hoff’s factor ,i, were calculated; their values decrease with increasing dye concentration and increase with increasing temperature. The mobility, µ, the activation energy, E, were also calculated. The findings indicate that interionic attractions and connections are present. Dyes ions tend to self-associate. Since these textile dyes were applied from aqueous systems, it is important to understand the association …

Impact Of Red Algae And Different Gamma Irradiation Doses On The Physicochemical Properties And Biodegradation Rate Of Epdm/Eva/Tps Blend, Ahmed Siddiq, Mohamed Ghobashy, Sayed Mousa, Hamdi Nasr, Ahmed Atalla

Al-Azhar Bulletin of Science

Algae-based bioplastic were prepared during this work to show the impact of red algae incorporation and gamma irradiation dose on the biodegradation and physicochemical properties of EPDM/EVA/TPS-algae blend. It was found that red algae increasing resulted in increasing of water uptake ratio and decreasing of crosslinking density percentage, also mechanical properties was enhanced by incorporation of red algae from 5 to 20wt.% but further addition of algae i.e. 30wt.% made the sample fragile and decreasing the mechanical properties. While gamma irradiation dose increasing causes decline of mechanical properties and slightly decreasing of both water uptake and crosslinking density percentage which …
