Weight stigma is discrimination or bias against any individual who is perceived to be overweight or obese. It has recently been recorded that the effects of weight discrimination have an influence on three major areas of life which include schools, the workplace, and personal relationships. This is important as weight discrimination was found to mostly have negative effects in all these areas but was also found to be sometimes beneficial in others, such as retail. Bilingual people often find themselves in a situation where they switch from one language to another. As with the number of Spanish speakers exponentially increasing in the United States, “code-switching” within Spanish and English is more noticeable within work spaces. When and where does code switching occur? Why does it occur? And how will it affect a work space? Legal scholars critique Title VII law as ineffective in current organizations. This phenomenological research explored the nature of seniors’ employment. Findings focused on seniors’ motivations for continuing employment, barriers and coping mechanisms, generational differences, the role of self-directed learning, and the effect of age, status, and experience on security and capital in the workplace.
