Angioedema is a medical condition characterized by rapid and localized swelling in the deeper layers of the skin and mucous membranes. Unlike hives (urticaria), which affect the superficial layers of the skin and appear as raised, itchy welts, angioedema involves swelling beneath the skin's surface and commonly affects areas such as the face, lips, tongue, throat, hands, feet, and genitals. This swelling can be dramatic and may cause discomfort, pain, or difficulty with breathing or swallowing, depending on the location and severity of the swelling. The potential impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) on the academic community raises numerous questions and answers, many of which have yet to be discovered. As a new and innovative technology, GenAI poses questions about functionality, training data integrity, ethics, intellectual property, and research functionality capabilities. To celebrate the 400th anniversary of the printing of Shakespeare’s First Folio, the Baylor University Libraries hosted a three-day celebration; “Shakespeare 400” drew faculty members from six academic departments and leveraged the talents of both graduate and undergraduate students. The four main events drew a cumulative crowd of over 200 people. Graduate students contributed to the events through music performance, a dramatic reading, enthusiastic promotion, and engaged participation. This presentation will explore key take-aways for including graduate students in library events.

This study addresses the critical need for systematic tools in teacher education programs to teach and assess High Leverage Practices (HLPs) effectively. While HLPs are established as foundational teaching practices, varying levels of research support their efficacy. Rubrics, widely used in higher education, are underexplored in terms of validity and reliability in education. Photoreflexivity: Supporting Reflexivity For Students In Design Education, Marije Ten Brink, Marije Kanis, Bert Bredeweg, Tamara Witschge, Ben Schouten

This paper describes the development and results of the pedagogical photo-based method PhotoReflexivity. This method is designed to support reflexivity for students in design education, which guides them in better understanding and situating themselves in the outside world. To uncover the value of this method, mixed research methods including iterative prototypes were deployed in real-world learning scenarios with design students. Attitudes, behaviour, and reflexive conversations were analysed, from which design patterns and recommendations were derived. This paper examines how TikTok impacts creativity through an investigation of the platform’s interaction and algorithmic design. Through one-on-one interviews, autoethnography, walkthroughs, and observation, this research reveals how TikTok’s design is impacting the creative processes, form, aesthetics, and topics of videos shared on the platform. The results demonstrate how both algorithmic and interaction design mediate video elements such as sounds, timing, style, language, trends, length, and more. TikTok’s “Duet” feature is taken as a case study, demonstrating that participants are engaging in certain creative forms and processes to increase algorithmic visibility, which is primed by the platform’s design. This academic year Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar tested a new outreach program in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and the Robotics club. The phenomenon of burnout in child welfare, human services, and similar forms of care work has traditionally been viewed from predominantly psychological and organizational perspectives. Such perspectives tend to focus on the cluster of symptoms practitioners experience and implications for occupational impairment. A clinical sociology perspective adds to these views by considering the scope of social settings and cultural work practices that produce an environment rife with ecological stressors that, among other negative impacts, produce factors that influence the prevalence of burnout in care fields. Sargeant Reynolds Community College librarians discovered some new post-COVID realities for our college including: more online asynchronous classes being offered; short semester sessions; the declining number of instructors requesting information literacy sessions for their classes; and fewer students visiting our campus libraries. A graduate course at Eastern Kentucky University included a significant Service-Learning project that evaluated and made recommendations about the University’s Writing Intensive program in collaboration with University administrators. The project’s goals included making sure that students have quality writing courses, that faculty are supported in teaching Writing Intensive courses, and that students develop the writing skills necessary to be successful in their professional lives. Additionally, the goals of Service-Learning center both on learning outcomes and community engagement, making it an effective method for cultivating this collaboration.

With higher cases rates, it is clear that newcomer and refugee populations in Ontario have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. These vulnerable populations generally work in settings that increase their risk of infection and do not offer sick leave (ICES, 2021). In addition, overcrowded and multigenerational housing make it difficult for these individuals to adhere to self-isolation guidelines. Language and cultural barriers among refugee populations have also limited their access to information about the virus, making it challenging to follow public health measures (ICES, 2021).

This research explores the creation of co-design methods that build and maintain long-term relationships in council development projects and engages in innovative design outcomes for the future of the city. A series of workshops were conducted with participants, including designers and urban planners. Stage 1 investigated mechanisms of building trust and understanding roles and responsibilities to test different relationship dynamics. Stage 2 explored activities suitable for dealing with innovation, negotiation, and shared planning to test innovative design outcomes. Findings show that relationship dynamics developed better through conversational activities than pure brainstorming, and that innovative outcomes were best generated through the …

For decades, design and medical research have been courting with varying levels of success. Much has been written about the potential of combining design methodologies and medical research in transdisciplinary collaborations (Chauhan et al., 2021; Mishra et al., 2021). The translation of this collaboration from promise to practice can be difficult. Partnerships between design and medical research face dif- ferences regarding how knowledge is produced, exchanged, funded, supported, and deemed successful (Groeneveld et al., 2018). Wildfire hotspots often intersect jurisdictional boundaries, so protecting human communities and restoring healthy fire regimes will require collaborative, cross-boundary action from fire managers. However, collaboration between fire management groups can have varied outcomes depending on the actors involved, all with different missions, financial obligations, and cultures. One way to conceptualize the interactions between actors is with the idea of social capital. We will investigate the following research question: how does social capital impact cross-boundary collaboration in wildfire management networks? Educators use agile and transparent learning procedures that require students to analyze, assess and critique theoretical perspectives. This paper highlights the use of Miro board technology, allowing students to engage in collaborative team work to create a visual representation of a theory, increasing their proficiency as a theory driven occupational therapist. Students reported that Miro boards decreased feelings of isolation, created a sense of community, encouraged creativity, and promoted a collaborative, meaningful learning experience. Effective teaching during the COVID pandemic provided learners multiple opportunities to track their learning progress with substantive and timely feedback.

Decisions on how to move livestock in space and time are central to rangeland management. Despite decades of small-scale research, substantial uncertainty exists regarding the relative importance of cattle stocking rates per se, versus the movement of cattle in both space and time, in achieving desired vegetation and livestock outcomes at scales relevant to livestock producers. In the rangelands of New South Wales, Australia, many successful soil erosion control techniques have been developed. These techniques have been implemented by the Western Local Land Services (WLLS), rehabilitating 23,000 ha since 2004. However the focus was on degraded land with little regard to catchment dynamics and the threatening processes that were causing the degradation.
With the introduction of Ecosystem Management Understanding (EMU)™ in 2016, the focus was broadened to address grazing properties in a drainage ecosystem context. There is a focus on understanding landscape function and designing projects that address threatening processes.
