The Free Speech Forum was held 3 October 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at the Houston Cole Library. The event featured individuals with expertise in Constitutional Law, the history of Free Speech, and former policymakers who have actively participated in First Amendment issues. The featured topic was Free Speech as it applies in the general sense to all American citizens (students, staff, faculty, community members, etc.) and not exclusively to professors and academic freedom.
Panelists included W. Keith Watkins, Allen Linken, Luther Strange, and Bryan Fair. The panel was moderated by Lori Owens and Thomas Rains.

Culture is an aspect of the dispute resolution process that is gradually receiving more attention. But what exactly does culture mean in this context? Is cross-cultural dispute resolution a subject of interest only in the international setting, or is it also seen in the domestic context?

Cardozo School of Law is pleased to announce Shelley Wu '23 and Ilona Ehrlich '23 as the 2023 recipients of the Mark Whitlock Scholarship.
The Whitlock Scholarship was established by the friends and family of Mark Whitlock '10, who passed away from brain cancer while he was a student at Cardozo. The Whitlock family created this scholarship to celebrate Mark's joyous spirit and vitality. It is awarded to outstanding third-year J.D. students who, through individual effort, energy, spirit and initiative, contribute to and/or expand and strengthen student life and community at Cardozo. The Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution (CJCR) of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law announced that world-renowned writer, activist, and organizer Gloria Steinem will receive the 22nd International Advocate for Peace Award (IAP) on March 29, 2023. Ms. Steinem joins two former United States presidents, business leaders, musicians, filmmakers, and others who have previously received the IAP Award, which recognizes an individual, organization, or group that has made significant contributions in the field of conflict resolution and the promotion of peace around the world. Law school’s largest-ever gift continues the success of Yeshiva University’s recently launched Rise Up Campaign. The Center will train lawyers to prevent the use of junk science in court cases, fight wrongful convictions and obtain clemency for the unjustly incarcerated.
