Optimization Of Vibro-Seismic Parameters For Enhanced Oil Recovery Application, Tarek Abdel Aal Jan 2024

Optimization Of Vibro-Seismic Parameters For Enhanced Oil Recovery Application, Tarek Abdel Aal

Theses and Dissertations

This thesis was conducted in the American University in Cairo by Tarek Ahmed Abdel Fattah Abdel Aal. The thesis is titled ‘Optimization of Vibroseismic Parameters for Enhanced Oil Recovery Application.’ The thesis discusses whether or not the combination of optimized physical vibration parameters with waterflooding would improve porosity, absolute permeability, relative permeability, and recovery when compared with just classical waterflooding. The optimized physical vibration parameters as well as methodology was used from a previous paper that was performed in conjunction with my thesis advisor on similar core samples. The experimentation was performed on five core samples with different porosities and …

Sequence Stratigraphy Of Cretaceous Cycles In The Southern Margin Of A Paleozoic Foreland Basin, Black Warrior Basin, Mississippi: A Potential Reservoir For Geologic Carbon Sequestration, Christopher R. Kyler Aug 2018

Sequence Stratigraphy Of Cretaceous Cycles In The Southern Margin Of A Paleozoic Foreland Basin, Black Warrior Basin, Mississippi: A Potential Reservoir For Geologic Carbon Sequestration, Christopher R. Kyler

Theses and Dissertations

The southern end of the Black Warrior Basin has been the site of limited drilling operations, but a critical need now exists to establish a greater understanding of the regional stratigraphy. The objectives of this study were to define a sequence stratigraphic framework for the southernmost Black Warrior Basin, to identify chronostratigraphic timelines within depositional environments, identify regional transgressive and high stand systems tracts. This information was used to identify three target reservoirs, characterize petrophysical properties, and confirm integrity of reservoir and seal formations for geologic storage. Methods include correlation of petrophysical well logs in the study area, well log …
