In this Positivist study, the researcher asked the question, what factors determine Social Workers' perceptions of consumers who receive mental health services. The study participants were Bachelor's and Master's of Social Work students. Results of the study suggested that education increased students' levels of stigma towards mental health consumers, but personal and mental health work experience did not influence levels of stigma.

This study examined barriers to community reintegration and the treatment needs of sex offenders as identified by social workers in the mental health field. Sex offenders undoubtedly experience many barriers which impact their successful community reintegration. Stigma has been strongly implicated by social workers in this study as a major barrier to the treatment and community reintegration of sex offenders.

The study investigated Children and Family Services (CFS) workers' awareness of the importance of father-daughter attachments and the associated risks of teenage pregnancy as well as the use of such knowledge in their intake assessment process. A quantitative, cross-sectional, survey design was utilized to study 113 child welfare workers who were employed with San Bernardino County Children and Family Services in California.

The purpose of this study is to better understand the attitudes and beliefs about evidence-based practice among masters in social work practitioners (MSWs) and licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs). Assessing the attitudes toward evidence-based practice can further the analysis of competent practice and perhaps help determine the extent to which social work is a profession based on research or anecdotal methods. The survey was given to 59 MSWs and LCSWs working in the mental health setting during a staff meeting at Patton State Hospital.

This research project explores social workers' definitions of codependency, assessment of codependency, and types of interventions for codependency, particularly among youth. This study will contribute to the profession of social work by assessing services provided to persons with HIV/AIDS in regards to spirituality as a coping mechanism. A goal of this study is to encourage social workers to examine their own viewpoints regarding spirituality as a coping mechanism for clients with HIV/AIDS and how well they integrate this method of coping into treatment. Service providers within this population will be able to evaluate and improve their use of a client's spirtual world view as a tool for coping with iving with HIV/AIDS.
