This study looked at the potential reentry-aged women employed by the San Bernardino County Department of Children's Service. It identified the characteristics, motivations, needs and barriers of the reentry age female student. This study explored the reasons why some SBCDCS reentry-aged workers choose to further their education, while others do not.

With the aging of the baby boomers there is a concern for the liklihood of an increase in reported cases of adult and dependent abuse with Adult Protective Services (APS). This study examined what the social work implications were regarding clients who refuse APS interventions and what subsequent outcomes existed. Data was extracted from closed case files for the period of January 1, 2000 and January 31, 2001 in the high desert region of San Bernardino County.

Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) is a long acting progesterone only contraceptive agent. Side effects such as irregular bleeding patterns and weight gain are attributed to discontinuation. The conclusions extracted from this research project show that little research has been done on social issues presented by the African immigrant to America. Those charged with public welfare research and intervention must develop tools and strategies necessary to assess the needs of African immigrants, to facilitate their improved adjustment to their environment. African immigrants in the United States can benefit from similar research designs and resources accorded to the Latino and Asian populations.
