A kinetic infrared scanning densitometer was used to study lithographic development in real-time. The instrument proved very effective after several slight improvements to increase sensitivity and obtain Density vs Time of Development curves directly- It was noted that this apparatus could also be used lot a study of the penetration of solutions into an emulsion. An exposure series on a normal Kodalith system indicates a decrease in induction time and an increase in maximum rate (up to diffusion limit) with increasing exposure.
