The objective of this research is to test the effectiveness of a game-based mathematical curriculum Number-Way in preschools for low socioeconomic status (SES) children. This curriculum contains fifteen interesting number games representing four main principles. The result indicated that this curriculum promoted early mathematical competence for preschoolers significantly.

America’s deficiency in mathematics can be benefitted by an emphasis in mathematics from an early age. Nihilism caused by inequalities and injustices hurts students of color. Educators can help these students with Critical Race theory and storytelling. Relationship development is a key factor for workplace socialization. People with stigmatized identities often choose to (not) disclose experiences or identities due to potential consequences. A perceived need to not disclose stigmatized, BDSM-related activities or identities can restrict relationship development at work, which should concern human resource development professionals.

Turnover Intent Among Middle School Teachers, Thomas G. Reio, Mirta Segredo

The purpose of the study was to examine the relations among mentoring, adaptation, satisfaction, commitment, and turnover intention. Two-hundred fifty two middle school teachers from ten Midwestern U.S. schools were surveyed. Hierarchical regression results demonstrated that positive mentoring experiences, successful adaptation, and greater commitment reduced the likelihood of turnover intent.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to educate allied health professionals and female athletes of the anatomy of the pelvic floor, and the pathology, etiology, and prevalence of stress urinary incontinence in female athletes. Background: Urinary incontinence is not a life-threatening or dangerous condition, but it is socially embarrassing, may cause the individual to remove herself from social situations, and decrease quality of life. While typically associated with parous women who had vaginal delivery, research has shown prevalence of the condition in physically active women of all ages. This qualitative study investigated factors that produced or perpetuated standardized test-based stereotype threat effects for a group of African American children. Findings revealed 4 themes: a perception of education as strictly test preparation, test-based stress and anxiety, racial salience, and stereotypes. Implications for practice and policy are discussed.

We chose the philosophical tradition of phenomenology as the qualitative methodology to study four women school leaders. Semi-structured interview data indicated that their professional experiences impacted how their leadership practices advance social justice in their education organizations, espouse the belief that equity matter, and exemplify the torchbearers of democratic ideals.

This study examined the relationship between homework performance (percent of homework completed and percent of homework correct), student characteristics (Stanford Achievement Test score, gender, ethnicity, and socio-economic status), perceptions, and challenges and academic achievement determined by the students’ average score on weekly tests and their score on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) Norm Reference Test (NRT) mathematics assessment.

Culture, trust and prejudice may impact cross-cultural mentoring relationships among African American students attending colleges in the United States. A Case Study Of The Assignment Of Withdrawal Codes For Reporting Dropouts In Two Disciplinary Alternative Schools, Barbara Thompson-Hawkins, Anthony H. Normore

This study examined assignment of withdrawal codes by school administrators in two disciplinary alternative schools. Findings revealed: (a) codes were inaccurately assigned intentionally to keep students from returning to a regular school without notification, and (b) administrators improperly tracked students and failed to ascertain students’ reasons for dropping out.

As Black students become more invested in the outcome of standardized tests, stereotypes become salient, subsequently depressing performance (Steele, 1997). As federal law has increased the importance of standardized testing at the elementary level, research is needed to determine when the stereotype threat becomes a relevant performance inhibitor.

In this paper, the researcher investigates the benefits of using smaller class sizes in Florida as compared to its projected costs. Six class size research studies are analyzed for experimental integrity and generalizability. There is also a discussion of the politics behind the class size movement in Florida.

An Exploratory Analysis Of John Dewey's Writings: Implications For School Leaders, Larry J. Moss, Anthony H. Normore

The purpose of this study was to synthesize the operational definition of education through an exploratory analysis of John Dewey’s writings. Dewey’s definition of education changed from 1938 to 1896. Findings suggest that schools promote more social and emotional learning through instructional activities such as service-learning.
