Postpartum depression is recognized as the most common complication of childbearing; however, its etiology remains fairly undetermined. Many different influences have been hypothesized as to what may cause postpartum depression, including changes in levels of various hormones (such as estrogen and progesterone), a decrease in serotonin, low levels of vitamin D, social factors, and iron deficiency. Research on underdogs has suggested that consumers feel sympathy for and a desire to support the underdog. However, it is unclear how their evaluations of the underdog will change if they receive negative information about it. The current research aims to explore the role of negative word-of-mouth of the underdog, compared to the top dog, in consumers’ brand attitude, brand value, and purchase intention. This research engages H. Richard Niebuhr’s work, Christ and Culture. Niebuhr’s book is a seminal work on the historical trends of Christian cultural engagement. This research applies several tests to the paradigm demonstrated in Niebuhr’s work. These tests demonstrate that Christ and Culture presents a paradigm that lacks fairness and does not adequately meet the goals of an explanatory paradigm. Within the past 16 years, the central piece of legislation, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), has seen numerous reauthorizations, each one expanding from the one that precedes it. Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has developed resistance towards a number of antibiotics. This resistance creates a challenge when trying to treat MRSA with a number of antibiotics. This is mainly caused by the penicillin-binding proteins 2a (PBP2a). PBP2a have significantly less affinity for beta-lactam antibiotics compared to the other penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) expressed by non-resistant strains. New treatments involving a combination of antibiotics and herbal extracts are being developed and used to inactivate PBP2a, allowing the previous ineffective antibiotics to be more effective.

Tick survey is an important factor in the determination of tick-borne disease in an area. A tick survey was done on Candlers Mountain in Lynchburg, Virginia, to look for the presence of Borrelia, Rickettsia, and Ehrlichia. With the help of CO₂ traps, 116 ticks were collected, including 75 adult lone star ticks and 3 adult blacklegged ticks. The use of the CO₂ trap was successful as a tick capturing method, but a preference was seen in the capture of lone star ticks. First a review of the history of handwashing is done, going from ancient times to its introduction into modern medicine via Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis. This section gives a sobering reminder not to instantly reject data that comes in conflict with prevalent thought.
