The purpose of this study was to look at the experience of a clinical teacher implementing a Functional Behavior Assessment, and what impact the assessment had on decreasing student behavior. Three student participants were selected based on the frequency of disruptive behavior in the classroom. Direct observation was taken over four days in order to develop hypotheses about the function of behavior. Interventions connected to the function were created and implemented over the course of the next four weeks, as behavior continued to be observed. Parent-teacher relationships can make or break a student’s academic career. It is possible that taking advantage of parents’ media-connectedness to form positive relationships may be more effective than more traditional methods like hand-written notes, phone calls, or emails. In this study the researcher sought to understand what happens in a kindergarten classroom when one technology in particular was used facilitate communication: Seesaw (a digital portfolio app used to post pictures and videos of children as well as communicate with parents using its private messaging feature). The purpose of this action research study was to understand the impact of introducing writing into the math sequence of a third-grade class. The teacher-researcher sought to understand students’ perceptions of as well as her personal perceptions of introducing writing into math and how this impacted student achievement. Data was collected through writing samples, assessment scores, observations and reflections, surveys, and interviews. Interactive whiteboards are an integral part of many elementary classrooms. These boards are becoming increasingly common in the early childhood setting. This study looks at how the interactive whiteboard impacts engagement in a Head Start, pre-kindergarten classroom. This study was done by teaching math small groups, both with and without the use of the interactive whiteboard, and recording the results in regards to engagement. Interviews, surveys, checklists, tally sheets, and journaling were used to garner both teacher and student perceptions about the use of the interactive whiteboard. With a growing number of high school students taking advantage of dual-credit courses, the need to understand what motivating factors are at play is more important than ever. This study was conducted within an 11th grade dual-credit history class for the purpose of discovering what motivated those students to enroll in a college level course while still in high school. The purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions of seventh-grade students and their teacher regarding the completion of daily history entries (a journaling activity) academically, developmentally, and relationally through data collection methods including observations, surveys, interviews, and student samples. To analyze these findings, level 1 and 2 codes were utilized. Additionally, descriptive statistics were utilized to quantitatively understand the implications of average student perceptions. Research has been done comparing academic achievement of gifted students in diverse school environments, but little has been found about their perceptions as learners in these environments. In this study the researcher sought to find how her students perceived guided math instruction in a first grade classroom. She also explored parents’ perceptions of their child’s math experiences in the first grade. Finally, she examined how the teachers in the classroom perceived guided math instruction.
