The progressive rock genre has been an intriguing subject of study for the scholarly community, especially within the last 30 years. An understudied part of the progressive rock scene, however, is its manifestation in the United States through the band Kansas. The band from 1970’s Topeka is acknowledged by Mitchell Morris as troublesome for critics due to the hybrid use of European art music and blues influences. In this study, the researcher proposed using knowledge collected of hip-hop dance experts and pioneers to create a curriculum applicable for the youth. Using interviews with various experts and research on hip-hop pioneers, the researcher tested the proposed curriculum on third, fourth, and fifth grade participants in a Colorado private school. The curriculum was tested over a span of five weeks with seventy-four participants. The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the ability of a curriculum based on Brain-Compatible Dance Education (BCDE) and Flow State Psychology to influence and inform the training of artistry within athletically and competitively trained contemporary dancers – specifically the collegiate dance athlete population. This research study focused on sustained injuries to collegiate dancers and athletes and the physical and mental effects that followed the sustained injuries. The researcher used an electronic survey to gather quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data included average weekly hours of practice and conditioning, if an injury was sustained during participation of their activity, where the injury was sustained, and if medical treatment was provided to them through their universities. The research was completed within the public education setting with a group of volunteer participants including one cooperating teacher and six student participants identified as exceptional learners. On April 9th, 2022, The Immigrant – Original Score was premiered in front of a live audience in Milne Auditorium on the campus of the University of Northern Colorado with thirteen performers and Jared Lane conducting. This new score was written for Charlie Chaplin’s 1917 film The Immigrant.1 While this score was written to encompass the spirit of Chaplin’s film, it was also intended to introduce this one-hundred-year-old film to modern audiences. The Immigrant – Original Score embodies a synthesis of the music of Chaplin’s day and modern film scoring techniques.

The Kid – Original Score is a new musical underscore composed for the Charlie Chaplin silent film The Kid, released in 1921. This new musical score is composed for a twenty-five- piece orchestra, consisting of woodwinds, brass, percussion, piano, and strings. The music begins during the opening credits with the titular card “The Kid” and extends twenty-three seconds beyond the final on-screen card “The End,” for a total of fifty-two minutes and forty-eight seconds of underscore. Over the Garden Wall, a television miniseries that aired in 2014 on Cartoon Network, is a distinctly American fantasy in the young adult genre. It is comprised of ten episodes, each set in a different historical period. The music of the series was written and performed by The Blasting Company and drew from a variety of historical influences, including Sacred Harp singing, ragtime, early jazz, Stephen Foster, Balkan folk music, and classic cartoons.
