The present study examines the impact of Social Networking Sites on college students of Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing (RIPANS), Aizawl. The study focused on the SNSs usage on academic performance, both positive and negative influence, the purpose and problem faced by the students in using SNSs. 150 well-structured questionnaires were distributed to the randomly selected students of RIPANS to find out the impact of using SNSs for their academic performance, out of which 146 students have responded. This study entailed the survey of the use of Web 2.0 for educational purposes by the students in Nigeria. The sample of the study constituted of students from seven faculties and one center which were purposively selected. The study used a questionnaire as its instrument of data collection. Four hundred copies of the questionnaire were distributed among the sample, out of which 380 were returned and found usable. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the collected data. Maqāsid al-Shariʿah has been typically defined as the objectives behind the Islamic rulings or the Shariʿah higher intent. This knowledge is very important for the mujtahids and Islamic scholars not only to understand or interpret the Shariʿah legal texts, but also to deduce solutions for contemporary problems faced by Muslims. Maqāsid al-Shariʿah is traditionally divided into three levels of necessity, which are necessities (al-Ḍaruriyyāt), needs (al-Ḥajiyyāt), and luxuries (al-Taḥsiniyyāt).
