Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) is a fibre and oilseed crop and offers raw materials to industries and livelihood for the rural poor. During the last decade, climate change has negatively affected crop production all over the world. Under such scenarios of climate change, plant breeders must explore the genetics of crops for better yield and fibre quality. Considering the Extent of Cotton in Pakistan's economy, the present research was planned to evaluate six cotton varieties in different locations for yield stability. Six varieties namely IUB-13, CIM-600, S-32, FH-Lalazar, CIM-616 and Z-33 were surveyed at farmer fields in Rajan Pur, …

Cotton is a major cash crop and backbone of the textile industry in Pakistan which is badly affected by sucking insects. Drought is an important abiotic factor in trichome development. The objective of the study was to determine the effects of drought on trichome density and length. Trichome density was measured in two ways, one through the scaling method and the other through counting the trichome density manually. The scaling method is qualitative grading while quantitative grading includes trichomecount in a card of optimized length. Three scales were finalized to classify leaves on the basis of trichomes which were counted …

Bio-assay of Diver® for mealy-bug and its parasitoid, A. bambawalei, was carried out during 2010-2011 in the IPM Laboratory, Department of Agri. Entomology, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. All the concentrations of Diver®, which were applied in laboratory conditions, were effective against mealy-bug. Diver® is the best mineral oil to control mealy-bug when compared to other synthetic pesticides. On the numerical basis of data, which were recorded on mortality basis, the highest concentration of Diver® was most effective against mealy-bug, followed by the other concentrations. All the concentrations of Diver® on the parasitoid of mealy-bug swerve less and their effects …
