Local wellness policies (LWPs) are state required documents that outline school districts’ goals for improving the physical activity of their students. In Texas, most districts use a template for developing their LWP, which has seven prespecified goals that districts may include or further expand upon to include additional goals. PURPOSE: Determine if physical activity components of districts’ LWPs were related to practices within the district. With increasing of obesity in children and adolescents the specialized care services, for the most serious cases, become imperative. Child and Adolescent Obesity Clinic, in the Clinics Hospital/Unicamp give assistance to patients between 03 and 19 years, with BMI≥percentile 95 of the CDC curve. This assistance involves physicians, nutritionists, psychologists and physical educators. For orientation of physical activities and its follow-up an effort test is used, the "go-and-come" test (Course-Navette), wich was proposed by Leger and Lembert (1982-1988). PURPOSE:

This study aimed to qualitatively explore the Hispanic faith-based communities' perceptions and willingness to address the childhood obesity epidemic. We will gain insights on faith-based communities’ perceptions of childhood obesity; their openness and willingness to address the issue of childhood obesity; their perceived barriers and facilitators to implementing faith-based community obesity prevention programs; and their ideas of appropriate obesity interventions in faith-based community settings.

METHOD:

In-depth interviews with 30 Hispanic church leaders and 7 focus groups with 38 church attending Hispanic children and 38 parents in San Antonio’s West Side, a low-income Hispanic community, were used to collect qualitative …
