In this case study design I explore the Student Success Teachers (SSTs) perspectives on the impact of a service-learning program, LEAD program has on their students, teacher candidates and themselves in their role. LEAD is presented as a proactive approach for 21st century learning as it promotes resiliency skills for our in-risk youth. I identify the challenges and benefits it presents to the SSTs, teacher candidates, and in-risk students within the two local school boards. Self-Efficacy And Teacher Retention: Perception Of Novice Teachers On Job Preparation, Job Support, And Job Satisfaction, Suzanne F. Redman

The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine the perceptions of novice teachers in 1 school district regarding their professional experiences. Novice teacher was defined as someone with 5 years or fewer in the teaching profession. The study was of an emergent design using phenomenological qualitative methods that included face-to-face interviews, triangulation of information, and analyzation with specific adherence given to understanding the social phenomena of the lived experience from the participants’ perspectives. On April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon Oil Platform exploded, killing 11 people and spilling approximately 210 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico over the following months. Disasters such as the Gulf Oil Spill affect individuals in many ways, including the possible onset of psychological issues such as depression, anxiety, and stress. Because mental health effects are comfollowing a disaster, it is important to understand potential protective factors that may decrease the risk of negative consequences related to disaster events.
