The relationship between Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and the phenomenon of inattentional blindness has received little empirical attention, with only a single published study on the topic. The purpose of the present study was to investigate individual differences in ADHD symptom severity in a non-clinical, undergraduate sample as they relate to susceptibility to inattentional blindness. Because research conducted in an individual differences framework requires the use of reliable measurement instruments, the present study also set out to develop and pilot a task that could induce inattentional blindness repeatedly and reliably in the same participants. College enrollment numbers reflect that the admission rates of students with disabilities are increasing as time progresses (Newman et al., 2020). Despite this spike in college attendance, degree completion rates of students with disabilities (SWD) are significantly lower than their nondisabled peers (DuPaul et al., 2018). This disparity was addressed via laws and regulations geared towards higher education institutions to level the playing field for SWD through providing services and support. Children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) exhibit greater levels of aggressive behavior than their typically developing peers, often resulting in impairment in social and family functioning. Aggressive behavior is often differentiated into two functions: reactive, or “hot-blooded” and proactive, or “cold-blooded” aggression. Prior research has identified several factors contributing to aggressive behavior within a general population, including emotion dysregulation, negative urgency, social information processing (SIP), and parenting behaviors. Even fewer studies have explored the learning-disabled collegiate athlete experience. Emerging research has explored how ADHD is related to Facebook and social media use. This study explored whether a hybrid hypothesis of the social compensation and cross-situational continuity hypotheses would explain potential inconsistencies in the Facebook usage of people with higher levels of ADHD symptoms. Noncredible performance and the intentional faking of symptoms during psychological evaluations have been observed in those seeking to obtain personal benefits. Cognitive deficits, such as impairments in attention are common in mental health settings and many seek an evaluation to rule out an attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Previous literature establishes a base rate for malingering to be between 22-47% in adult ADHD evaluations (Sullivan, 2007; Suhr et al., 2008; Marshall et al., 2010). The study was conducted with two male students with a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The first participant was in first grade and the second was in eighth grade. Emerging research has increasingly identified the detrimental effect of internalizing and externalizing comorbidity on the functioning of youth with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Research in the broad child psychopathology literature has identified a variety of dispositional and developmental risk factors for psychopathology development in youth. However, a conceptual model of psychopathology development has yet to be developed and empirically evaluated in an ADHD sample. Children diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder often suffer from impulsivity. The attenuated expression of latrophilin 3 (Lphn3) gene is linked to a dampening of extracellular dopamine (DA) levels that is consistent with the ADHD pathology expressed in humans, while this depletion of DA levels occurring as a result of Lphn3 variation also leads to impulsivity deficits that mirror those that are observed in humans sufferring from ADHD. Background: Children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) experience higher rates of peer victimization relative to unaffected peers; however, debate remains as to whether core symptoms of ADHD—inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity—are responsible for increased rates of peer victimization among children with ADHD. Given emotion regulation deficits co-occur among children with ADHD, and are often associated with increased peer victimization experiences, the current study examined the role of emotion regulation in peer victimization among children with ADHD. The following study compared the use of the MotivAider as a self-monitoring tactile device between an elementary age student with ADHD and his teacher to increase ontask behavior. The design of this study was an alternating treatments design, which helped to determine the more effective condition. EC is thought to develop through a process known as emotion socialization (ES), whereby children’s emotions and emotion-based behaviors are socialized through interactions with parents and/or other primary figures. This study investigated the dependability of teacher ratings of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder characteristics through the completion of the Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Rating Scale-IV, School Version and the Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Rating Scale-5, School Version, Child Form. Teacher pairs from five classrooms across two schools each independently rated the same ten randomly selected students from their classroom roster and completed three rating scales on each student, one of which was a filler. Generalizability theory was used to examine error variance across instrument, rater, and classroom concurrently, resulting in strong dependability coefficients for Inattention composite, Hyperactive/Impulsive composite, and Total Score composites. Hyperactivity/attention problems (HAP) and conduct problems (CP) are common and impairing disruptive behaviors in childhood and adolescence. Previous research has established that HAP and CP are highly comorbid, and that outcomes are worse for youth exhibiting both symptom clusters relative to youth with only one disruptive behavior type. Despite ample evidence that HAP and CP share common etiological factors and maladaptive outcomes, the nature of their developmental association remains unclear. The popularity of Facebook as an extension to the social lives of emerging adults has led to research examining how individuals with social impairments use the site. Social challenges are often experienced by individuals with ADHD; therefore, the present study examined the patterns of Facebook use for emerging adults with varying levels of ADHD symptoms. Parentification refers to the intergenerational role-reversal within a family wherein a child is assigned the adult caregiving role. Typically-developing siblings of individuals with developmental disabilities often experience increased caregiving responsibilities compared to their peers (Cuskelly & Gunn, 2003) and face unique challenges within their sibling relationship (Petalas et al., 2009), which may place them at a greater risk for parentification. Computerized testing provides insight into behaviours difficult to measure in traditional paper-pencil testing, such as impulsivity. Eye-tracking was recorded during the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test, Fourth Edition digital stimulus book administration and output (saccadic speed, pupillary dilation, fixation duration, and reaction time) was used to predict impulsivity, as measured by the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale - Eleventh Edition. Demographic factors including ADHD diagnosis, age, gender, handedness, and SES were considered. Participants were 64 undergraduate students (50 women) at a medium-sized, ethnically diverse, university in southwestern Ontario. Dangerous driving behaviors are influenced by multiple factors including cognitive processes such as impulse inhibition and attentiveness. Impulsiveness, inattention, and cognitive failures have been linked to other risky behaviors, but a comprehensive evaluation using multiple methods of measurement of these has never been conducted to analyze their impact on dangerous driving. The purpose of this study was to examine influences of attentional abilities, impulsiveness, and cognitive failures on reported and demonstrated dangerous driving behaviors.
