A Study Of The Perceptions Of Relationships Between Teachers And Students And Possible Effect On Standardized Test Scores, Rachel Quintana
A Study Of The Perceptions Of Relationships Between Teachers And Students And Possible Effect On Standardized Test Scores, Rachel Quintana
Dissertations
This research study sought to determine correlations between the perceptions of teacher and student relationships and personality traits with academic achievement as measured by End-of-Course (EOC) summative exams in a rural midwestern high school. As a firm believer in the importance of relationships in the classroom, the researcher created a survey instrument and provided it to teachers and students who enrolled in courses that took End-of-Course (EOC) exams in the Spring of 2021. The researcher-designed instrument categorized teachers and students based on their perceptions of relationships and four common personality traits to determine if correlations to EOC scores existed.

The Effect Changes In The Weather Have On Kindergarten Through Third-Grade Students’ Behavior, Sara Michelle Calderon
The Effect Changes In The Weather Have On Kindergarten Through Third-Grade Students’ Behavior, Sara Michelle Calderon
Dissertations
The joking comments throughout the halls of elementary schools between teachers, “it is going to rain soon” or “a storm is brewing,” seemed to be just a hard day’s excuse. The purpose of this mixed methods study was to understand if there was accuracy in these joking comments. Beginning with quality classroom management and understanding student behaviors, this research examined educators’ perspectives on changing weather and the behavior of their students in their classrooms. In order for a comprehensive understanding, quality classroom management was the most important aspect. Classroom management is one of the most difficult aspects of teaching (Gage …
Adverse Childhood Experiences (Aces) Education Implementation For Graduate Nursing Students, Courtney Kovachevich
Adverse Childhood Experiences (Aces) Education Implementation For Graduate Nursing Students, Courtney Kovachevich
Dissertations
Chronic conditions are a leading cause of death and disability in the United States (U.S.). Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are risk factors for chronic conditions and death; however, screening and assessment of ACEs do not occur in primary care settings. A barrier to screening is a lack of knowledge and education during providers’ didactic courses. To address this barrier, a standardized education tool was implemented into a midwestern public graduate nursing Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) curriculum. The design was a Quality Improvement (QI) project with a descriptive cohort design and purposive sample. The inclusion criteria were students in the …
What Are The Factors Affecting African American High School Students' Decision For Applying To The University Of Central Florida?, Janet Martin
Dissertations
The number of African Americans enrolling in higher education has seen a steady decrease in recent years due to factors that act as barriers. This study examined these factors and their influence based on the students’ perspectives. The study design was based on the post-positivist paradigm and the quantitative methodology was used. Urban high school students were surveyed to determine their thoughts on the barriers they experienced as they applied to college. The Google survey included sixteen questions that required yes/no responses, Likert-scale responses, and short responses. The data were analyzed using logistic regression and Chi-square analysis. The results showed …
Testing Barriers To Non-Suicidal Self-Injury With College Students: Narcissistic Traits As Moderators, Philip Stoner
Testing Barriers To Non-Suicidal Self-Injury With College Students: Narcissistic Traits As Moderators, Philip Stoner
Dissertations
Research on non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) has produced mixed findings, resulting in a lack of clarity regarding these behaviors (Klonsky & Meuhlenkamp, 2007). To address this, Hooley and Franklin (2018) developed the Benefits and Barriers Model (BBM) to provide a comprehensive understanding of NSSI, in which they identified the barriers that commonly prevent people from engaging in these behaviors (e.g., self-esteem, shame, and peer-bonding motivations/social norms). They also identified adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) as a distal predictor of NSSI, which aids people in overcoming the barriers to engaging in these behaviors. Recent NSSI literature has shown that college women in the …
