There is a lack of education about ethnic diversity within the Kindergarten curriculum. When Kindergarteners do not learn about diversity, they can be susceptible to taking part in bullying or being targets themselves. This project is about adding diversity content to children's learning to help them become more inclusive, appreciative of differences in others and, perhaps, see their ethnic background represented, potentially raising self-esteem.

This capstone research seeks to reflect how culture can impact student academic achievement. Understanding that culture has many meanings is critical to have an insight into how it can impact student, classroom, and teacher-student interactions. To carry this, four teachers/ Professors were interviewed, and student surveys were created. This capstone aims to study the gender differences within Latino communities from the perspective of California State University, Monterey Bay students and whether these gender differences affect their ethnic identity/pride. This research intends on exploring two questions 1) Are there gender differences among college-going students and the way they are socialized to understand their ethnic identity? 2) If so, Are the respondents' ethnic identity index score and Familism index scores influenced based on their gender?
