This research is based on summer 2020 online survey data from a stratified random sample of 573 clients and care providers of a rural Northern California government social services agency. The goal was to study information technology access in Humboldt County, California, and the range of digital preparedness of clients of a local government agency: Humboldt County In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS). IHSS serves several groups of rural residents with low-income, foremost of which are older adults and people with disabilities. Increasing physical activity participation among children with disabilities is critical for developing healthy lifestyles. Motivation can influence the amount of physical activity a person participates in. Establishing motivational climates that emphasize individual progress and outcomes can result in improvements of affective responses of engaging in an activity which, in turn, can increase the likelihood of continued participation. This case study examines the effect of group-based and individual-based physical activity participation on mood in individuals with disabilities. The participant was age 14 during the study and diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The participant engaged in individual and group based physical activities as part of a one week adapted physical activity program. Mood states were reported using the Intellectual Disability Mood Scale [IDMS] (Argus, Terry, Bramston, & Dinsdale, 2004), which is adapted from the Profile of Mood States [POMS] (Droppleman, Lorr, & McNair, 1992). “My Lesbian Space Rock Show”: Representations Of Intersectional Identities In Steven Universe, Heather L. Clark

This research is based on a content analysis of the meaning making in Steven Universe cartoon fandom forum threads, media message board comments, and online reviews posted between November 2013 (the show’s initial air date) and November 2016. My analysis examines the fan negotiations of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and class from an intersectional feminist perspective. Unlike other qualitative analyses of cartoons that focus on researcher analysis of media messages, this research focuses on meaning making and identity formation among fans. I found that Steven Universe provides fans with opportunities for meaning making and validation, especially underrepresented populations. Fans negotiate …
