The Impact Of One-To-One Technology Initiatives On The Racial Achievement Gap In The High School Setting., Jaysen Walter Anderson

The purpose of the study was to analyze the racial achievement gap between high schools that had a one-to-one technology program and schools without this program. Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment reading and math data were collected on 20 Minnesota high schools, 10 with a one-to-one program and 10 without for the 2016-2018 school years. Along with math and reading proficiency data for the 20 schools, achievement gaps were calculated for each school and averaged for each group of schools for the three years studied. Montessori As Metonymy: How Montessori Early Childhood Teachers Approach Race In The Classroom, Teresa M. Ripple

The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine how Montessori early childhood teachers approach teaching about race and racial bias in their classrooms. Twenty-four Montessori early childhood teachers participated in an open-ended survey, and five teachers of those 24 participated in a data-informed online semi-structured interview. The interviewees received an infographic with narrative and graphics in which themes of the survey were detailed, a form of graphic elicitation. Surveys and interviews were coded and analyzed for themes. Themes were verified through independent coding by an independent analyst. The Causes, Impact, And Cost Of Teacher Turnover, Jenny M. Young

This literature review examines research studies regarding the causes, impact, and cost of teacher turnover in U.S. schools. Results indicate a strong association between schools with high teacher turnover rates and high rates of students of color. Teachers also report more dissatisfaction with the working conditions and school leadership in schools with high teacher turnover rates. Studies indicate high rates of teacher turnover can have a negative impact on both student achievement and school culture. Overwhelmingly, schools serving a high percentage of students of color bear the majority of this impact. Additionally, schools and districts consume valuable financial resources replacing …
