Longitudinal Safety Climate Analysis: Modeling For Enhanced Organizational Response, Erin E. Bowen, Brian J. Roggow Jan 2017

Longitudinal Safety Climate Analysis: Modeling For Enhanced Organizational Response, Erin E. Bowen, Brian J. Roggow

International Symposium on Aviation Psychology - 2017

Much of the safety climate research captures only a transient state in the aviation environment, by extension limiting organizational responses to transactional approaches. The limits of the transient annual safety climate audit traps safety attitudinal/behavioral research in a static or reactive cycle. The present study takes advantage of a collegiate aviation environment with multiple training locations (each with its own culture), participating in regular safety climate audits across flight operations, to develop an enhanced safety culture model. Using longitudinal climate data collected from the organization, the authors present a mixed-methods trend analysis of safety climate changes to date, incorporating organizational …

Information Technology Impacts On Firm Performance: An Extension Of Kohli And Devaraj (2003), Anand Jeyaraj, Rajiv Sabherwal Dec 2015

Information Technology Impacts On Firm Performance: An Extension Of Kohli And Devaraj (2003), Anand Jeyaraj, Rajiv Sabherwal

ISSCM Faculty Publications

Despite the importance of investing in information technology, research on business value of information technology (BVIT) shows contradictory results, raising questions about the reasons for divergence. Kohli and Devaraj (2003) provided valuable insights into this issue based on a meta-analysis of 66 BVIT studies. This paper extends Kohli and Devaraj by examining the influences on BVIT through a meta-analysis of 303 studies published between 1990 and 2013. We found that BVIT increases when the study does not consider IT investment, does not use profitability measure of value, and employs primary data sources, fewer IT-related antecedents, and larger sample size. Considerations …

Nurses Perceptions Of Shared Governance Two Years Post Implementation Of A Councilor Shared Governance Model, Kathleen L. Wilson

Doctor of Nursing Practice Program Projects

Participation in shared governance councils can provide nurses with an opportunity for input into organizational policies that influence quality health care outcomes. Nurse leaders are diligently seeking a practice model that has a foundation of engagement of staff in decision making, quality outcomes, competency, evidence-based practice, shared power and job satisfaction. With the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) of 2010, health care systems can expect an influx of some 30 million more patients (Pfeifer, 2013). In addition, mandated purchase of health care insurance will replace the fee for service model with one that ties payment to outcomes and …

Assessing Readiness For Collaboration In Military C2 Centers, Dr. Joseph B. Lyons, Stephanie D. Swindler, Dr. Jacob J. Wolf, Patrick J. Vinvent

International Symposium on Aviation Psychology - 2007

The present research explored the concept of collaborative readiness within a logistics command and control center which was undergoing an organizational change targeting collaborative processes. A series of collaboration-centric items were piloted during an ongoing organizational assessment which was administered to approximately 240 personnel. The results suggested that collaborative readiness could be conceptualized by four overall dimensions: 1) general effectiveness and attitudes, 2) technology adaptability and external collaboration, 3) collaboration enablers, and 4) job characteristics.

Barriers To Safety Innovation: Experiences Applying The “Safety Model Based Analysis” Approach In European Aviation, Kyla Steele, Jean Pariès Jan 2007

Barriers To Safety Innovation: Experiences Applying The “Safety Model Based Analysis” Approach In European Aviation, Kyla Steele, Jean Pariès

International Symposium on Aviation Psychology - 2007

Safety research during the past decade has increasingly emphasized the importance of understanding both positive and negative aspects of performance, rather than errors, risks, and accidents alone. As the aviation industry already enjoys such a low accident rate, safety managers are looking for predictive approaches in order to proactively monitor system behaviour. Expectations of the scope and complexity of models has also increased, trying to keep pace with the rapid evolution of the industry, and a systems view has now become the aspiration. A riskmanagement approach called the Safety Model Based Analysis (SaMBA) developed by Dédale attempts to meet these …

The Stl Model: A Three-Dimensional Perspective On Organizational Change Programs, Manoj S. Patankar Ph.D., Thomas Bigda-Peyton Ph.D., Jeffery Brown M. Ed.

International Symposium on Aviation Psychology - 2005

This paper examines organizational change programs across aviation, healthcare, and financial services sectors. Based on the analysis of three key programs, a theoretical model, which could be used to describe the state of any organizational change program, is presented. This model is called the STL Model and is represented by three mutually perpendicular axes: scalability, transferability, and longevity. In simplest terms, scalability refers to “volume;” greater the volume of users of, or participants in, a particular change program, the greater the scalability of that change program. Transferability refers to the number of user-groups, whether within a specific discipline or outside. …
