Hydrogen Ion Concentration Of Sheet Making Water And Its Relationship To The Hygroexpansion Of Paper, James M. Rischar
Hydrogen Ion Concentration Of Sheet Making Water And Its Relationship To The Hygroexpansion Of Paper, James M. Rischar
Paper Engineering Senior Theses
The hygroexpansivity of paper is of particular importance in the paper industry. As paper dimensions become more critical, the problem of hygroexpansivity in paper necessarily becomes more critical. Since the hydrogen ion concentrations (pH) of papermaking water effects the use of fillers, dyes, size, and the quality of the final product, the relationship between hygroexpansivity of paper and the pH of papermaking water is, therefore, an important consideration. Fortunately, the experimental evidence from this project indicates that the pH has little effect upon the hygroexpansion of paper. But rather, this project found the sheet density to have a far greater …

A Geographic Study Examining The Major Elements Involved In The Rise Of Cotton Production In Southeast Missouri 1922-1925, Charles E. Hudson
A Geographic Study Examining The Major Elements Involved In The Rise Of Cotton Production In Southeast Missouri 1922-1925, Charles E. Hudson
Masters Theses
The delta area of Missouri comprises the seven counties in the southeastern part of the state. These counties form the only area in Missouri where cotton is widely produced. Although cotton was grown in the region as early as 1850, the delta area did not become a major cotton producer until 1922. For a number of years prior to 1922 certain elements, including soil and topography, climate, forest clearance, land drainage, and the influx of farmers prior to 1920, formed a potential favorable to large-scale cotton production, yet none occurred. For an increase in production to occur some element had …
