The purpose of this mixed methods study was to describe the current state of Algebra I instruction for students with mathematical learning disabilities (MLD) in West Virginia and teachers. preparation for this practice, as perceived by teachers. Objectives: The impact of unhealthy choices on Americans is no longer an "adult's only" issue. Health disparities previously affecting adults are appearing at ever-increasing rates in children. A strategy to address this examines the likelihood that elementary teachers act as healthy role models while providing quality health instruction. This case study examined the pedagogical practices of four teachers of one public elementary school whose mission seeks to nurture and maintain democratic habits for participation in a democratic society. An artist residency consists of a visiting artist (dance, musical, theatrical, or visual) creating work in and teaching their craft to an audience of participants. Artist residencies take place in a variety of settings, in public and private schools, after-school programs, in day care and preschool programs, community centers, and adult recreational and care facilities. Over time in a school setting artist residencies have evolved to include school curriculum, input and collaboration from the host teacher. The purpose of this research was to examine how teaching reflective concepts and directing reflective writing would influence student coaches' (SC) level of reflective writing in a one semester coaching internship course. A Multiple baseline format was used to implement the intervention.
