Curriculum Alternatives In Graduate Dental Hygiene Education, Jennifer Hubbard Grilli Aug 2001

Curriculum Alternatives In Graduate Dental Hygiene Education, Jennifer Hubbard Grilli

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports

The nursing profession has designed a variety of curriculum options for individuals who wish to pursue graduate education in nursing. These options have been created to meet the changing needs of their profession, society, and potential students in the field. The profession of dental hygiene has similar needs. Presently there are only nine programs granting graduate degrees in dental hygiene. More graduate programs are needed to fulfill the future demands for educators, researchers, and practitioners with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide advanced levels of care in a variety of practice settings. Unfortunately, a mean of only 20 students …

Skeletal And Dental Changes With The Acrylic Splint Herbst Appliance, Jorge Clemente Casellas May 2001

Skeletal And Dental Changes With The Acrylic Splint Herbst Appliance, Jorge Clemente Casellas

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports

The purpose of this study was to determine the amount of skeletal and dental cephalometric changes of Class II patients treated with acrylic splint Herbst appliance. The sample consisted of one experimental group and one control group. These patients were matched in sex, age and craniofacial morphology. The cephalometric system described by Pancherz was used to determine the cephalometric changes. Significant differences in skeletal and dental changes were found in patients treated with the acrylic splint Herbst when compared with the control group. An overjet correction of 4.6 mm and a molar relation correction of 5.6 mm were obtained. The …

Evaluation Of Microleakage Of Rsa Roekoseal Automix Root Canal Sealer, Neil Thomas Miller May 2001

Evaluation Of Microleakage Of Rsa Roekoseal Automix Root Canal Sealer, Neil Thomas Miller

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports

The sealing ability of RSA Roekoseal Automix root canal sealer using ThermaFil Plus and cold lateral condensation was compared to Roth's 801 root canal sealer. Fifty-two single canaled roots of extracted teeth were divided into four groups of twelve and instrumented to size 6 with .06 taper series 29 ProFiles. Group A canals were obturated with ThermaFil and Roth's 801 sealer. Group B canals were obturated with ThermaFil and RSA Roekoseal Automix. Group C canals were obturated with cold lateral condensation and Roth's 801 sealer. Group D canals were obturated with cold lateral condensation and RSA Roekoseal Automix. The linear …

Mutagenicity Of Root Canal Sealer Rsa Roekoseal Automix In The Ames Test, Joseph Anthony Wateska May 2001

Mutagenicity Of Root Canal Sealer Rsa Roekoseal Automix In The Ames Test, Joseph Anthony Wateska

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports

The mutagenic activities of the root canal sealers, RSA Roekoseal Automix and AHPIus, were tested in the bacterial gene mutation assay (Ames test). Both materials were tested immediately after mixing and after setting 24 h. The Salmonella typhimurium tester strains TA98 and TA 100 were used to detect the induction of frame shift mutations and base pair substitutions both in the presence and absence of a metabolically active microsomal fraction from rat liver (S9 fraction). No mutagenic or toxic effects were found with DMSO eluates of freshly mixed or 24h set RSA Roekoseal Automix. However, under extreme experimental conditions, DMSO …
