Utah State prides itself in its services for students, but recently those services have made negative headlines. Deaf students have filed a lawsuit against the university complaining about the lack of sign language interpreters. But some complain that they are still hearing or seeing no response.

For my Thesis Project, I produced a documentary highlighting the problem both here on our campus, and on a statewide and even nationwide level. I intend to create one large scale permanent work for Utah State University as fulfillment for the senior thesis of my Honors degree. The site that has been approved for this project is the tunnel under HWY 89 connecting the student B parking lot to the eastern most end of campus where the art and engineering departments are located. This high traffic area is ugly, uninviting, and currently in need of repair. Utah State University provides health insurance for 10,400 people (3,500 contracts). Employees of the university who qualify for this insurance have the option to pick one of 2 plans, Blue or White. Utah State essentially self-insures these plans, and Blue Cross Blue Shield administers them. This means that the university has a reserve set up to pay the medical claims of all of the people covered by these plans and bears most of the risk associated with providing this insurance.
