Sediment-routing systems continuously transfer information and mass from eroding source areas to depositional sinks. Understanding how these systems alter environmental signals is critical when it comes to inferring source-area properties from the sedimentary record. We measure cosmogenic 10Be and 26Al along three large sediment-routing systems ( ∼  100 000 km2) in central Australia with the aim of tracking downstream variations in 10Be-26Al inventories and identifying the factors responsible for these variations. By comparing 56 new cosmogenic 10Be and 26Al measurements in stream sediments with matching data (n =  55) from source areas, we show that 10Be-26Al inventories in hillslope bedrock …

To solve the problems of tracking errors such as target missing that emerged in compressive tracking (CT) algorithm due to factors such as pose variation, illumination change, and occlusion, a novel tracking algorithm combined angular point matching with compressive tracking (APMCCT) was proposed. A sparse measurement matrix was adopted to extract the Haar-like features. The offset of the predicted target position was integrated into the angular point matching, and the new target position was calculated. In Australia, large organisations are required to report their direct, Scope 1, and indirect, Scope 2, Green-House Gas (GHG) emissions annually through the National Government Emissions Reporting Scheme (NGERS). These organisations must therefore find the resources and means to measure these aspects of their Environmental Footprint. SMEs are not yet required to report to NGERS and most do not have the knowledge and resources to do it. In the present study, eye tracker methodology was used to explore whether there were age-related changes in the focus of infant attention during a learning event and subsequent recognition memory for event features. Six- and 9-month old infants watched a video of an adult demonstrating a sequence of actions with an object while visual attention was recorded using an eye tracker. At both ages, attention was focused primarily on the object and person, with the background attended to for approximately 12% of their viewing time. Translocating birds to a new area of habitat to restore or supplement depleted populations may pose a significant threat to the translocated individuals. While for many species, translocated individuals appear to move larger distances than resident animals, species with poor dispersal capacity may be restricted in movements and translocation methods may need to accommodate differences in movements to ensure success. In this paper we present a singularity free trajectory tracking method for the cooperative working of multi-arm robot manipulators. It is based on an inverse kinematic transformation which determines the manipulator's joint angles corresponding to the end-effector trajectory given in the task space. The kinematic problem of multi-arm robot system is solved by using screw theory and quaternion algebra. The powerful theory of compressive sensing enables an efficient way to recover sparse or compressible signals from non-adaptive, sub-Nyquist-rate linear measurements. A fully passive printable chipless RFID system is presented. The chipless tag uses the amplitude and phase of the spectral signature of a multiresonator circuit and provides I : 1 correspondence of data bits. The tag comprises of a microstrip spiral multiresonator and cross-polarized transmitting and receiving microstrip ultra-wideband disc loaded monopole antennas. The reader antenna is a log periodic dipole antenna with average 5.5-dBi gain. Firstly, a 6-bit chipless tag is designed to encode 000000 and 010101 IDs. This article introduces a new particle filtering approach for object tracking in video sequences. The projective particle filter uses a linear fractional transformation, which projects the trajectory of an object from the real world onto the camera plane, thus providing a better estimate of the object position. In the proposed particle filter, samples are drawn from an importance density integrating the linear fractional transformation. This provides a better coverage of the feature space and yields a finer estimate of the posterior density. This article presents a methodology to analyze the spatial behavior of tourists based on tracking data. This method was applied during a field study in the city of Görlitz at the east border of Germany. Based on Global Positioning System (GPS) logs the spatial distribution of visitors in various areas is visualized and analyzed. Using the bimodality of the distribution of walking speeds, areas of slowdown are identified and subsequently clustered into activity areas. A recently developed low-cost light emitting diode (LED) chemical sensing technique is integrated with a Mica2Dot wireless communications platform to form a deployable wireless chemical event indicator network. The operation of the colorimetric sensing node has been evaluated to determine its reproducibility and limit of detection for an acidic airborne contaminant. This report describes the 'tracking' of the EPPE 3-11 sample and then goes on to examine the possible influence of mobility on children's cognitive progress and social/behavioural development over both the pre-school and primary school period. The EPPE 3-11 project recruited children from 141 pre-school settings in six English Local Authorities (LAs) at the age of 3+. The project then followed these children through their primary school careers until the end of KS2 in primary school (Year 6, age 11). This paper describes an inexpensive, robust method for tracking the head position and orientation of the user by using a single low-cost USB camera and infrared light emitting diodes concealed within spectacle frames worn by the user. The tracking of the time-varying channel is crucial for MIMO-OFDM wireless communication systems. Aiming at doubly-selective fading MIMO channels, we present a novel pilot pattern and the corresponding adaptive channel tracking algorithm. Compared with the traditional pilot patterns, the new pattern has higher frequency efficiency and is more suitable for large transmit arrays. The computational complexity, frequency efficiency and BER performance of the system assisted by the proposed channel tracking scheme are analyzed. This work presents a comparative study of particle swarm models on their abilities to track extrema in dynamic environments. A standard PSO, two randomized PSOs, and a fine-grained PSO are evaluated in non-trivial multimodal dynamic environments involving small constant step changes, different large step changes, and chaotic step changes of the extrema. DF1 proposed by Morrison and De Jong is used to generate these three types of dynamics (1999).
