Investigation Of The Relationship Between Mindfulness And Empathy In Pre-Nursing Students Exposed To A Four-Week Mindfulness Training, Debra L. Klich

Objective: To investigate the effects of a four-week mindfulness program on levels of mindfulness, empathy, and anxiety in a group of pre-nursing students.

Methods: This study utilized a multiple-baseline across subjects design. Results from nine study participants were examined.

Results: Data demonstrates that a detectable decrease in anxiety levels can result from participation in self-directed mindfulness program as short as four weeks. Results regarding mindfulness and empathy levels were less conclusive. A specific relationship between empathy and mindfulness cannot be determined from this study.

Co-Cr-Mo-C alloys have been used for implant materials for decades because of their strength, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and biocompatibility. To develop durable low-friction joint replacement implants, it is important to understand the solidification structure and properties of these materials. While HCP phase is the thermodynamically stable phase in these alloys, they maintain their high-temperature γ-FCC matrix and coarse dendritic structure on cooling to room temperature when cast by conventional methods. Between the years of 1882 and 1925, the Milwaukee County Poor Farm buried several

thousand members of Milwaukee’s indigent population in what would later be designated

Cemetery II. In 1991 and early 1992, after discovery of the cemetery during construction of parts

of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, 1,649 burials were excavated. The graves had long

been abandoned and the headstones bulldozed, leaving a register of burials without any obvious

way of associating each individual with their identity. A copy of the register is curated at the

Ideal biomaterials for bone tissue regeneration are bone-mimicking structures that present a fully interconnected porous structure, have similar mechanical properties to bone, and exhibits a specific biodegradation behavior that is at the same rate as adjoining cell growth. Metals have high wear resistance, ductility, impact strength, and strain energy absorption capacity compared to other materials, which makes them suitable candidates for tissue engineering scaffolds. The ambiguity of life is visible in the complex sets of beliefs that cultures develop around abortion, stillbirth, and neonatal death. This research grew out of ambiguities surrounding bioarchaeological methods of age estimation among fetal and infant remains and the need for additional lines of evidence to define what a prenatal or postnatal age contextually means, how these definitions were upheld or challenged, and what impact these definitions had on the mortuary treatment of these bodies.

I will describe studies in developing an on-line system for process monitoring that is based upon spectrophotometric methods. Heavy metals that are discarded into the environment may pose severe threats to public health, and are thus heavily regulated. Currently, there is no reasonably affordable, reliable, real-time monitoring method for heavy metals in water. This lack of feedback for industrial applications often leads to wasted resources due to massive overtreatment to avoid costly penalties.
