This project examines how White curators at four museums in Wisconsin portray Native American women based on a number of institutional and individual curatorial choices. Intersectional Theory is used to explore how museums and museum professionals navigate questions of representation of a traditionally marginalized group. It places specific emphasis on the relationship between Community Curation and Intersectional Theory and explores whether or not the involvement of Native groups noticeably impacts representation of Native American women.

In the country of Oman, care needs of older adults are primarily provided by family members in the home. The study was guided by socioemotional selectivity theory, the environmental vulnerability hypothesis, and the need-driven dementia-compromised behavior theories. The central premise was that the size of the person’s activities of daily living (ADL) core network and frequency of contact with the ADL core network would predict agitation and affect. Verdicchio is a white grape varietal notably grown in the Marche wine region of east-central Italy within two Denominazione Origine Controllata (DOCs); Castelli di Jesi and Matelica, located less than 50 km apart. Jesi lies in the Apennine foothills near the coast of the Adriatic Sea and produces a smooth wine noted with apple-pear undertones and crisp, clean acidity. Conversely, Matelica is located in a synclinal valley of a fold-and-thrust belt and produces stronger wine with penetrating floral aromas and bold acidity. Background: Simulation-based learning (SBL) shows promise to potentially improve clinical competence in nursing education. The efficacy of evidence-based prebriefing activities and valid and reliable systems to evaluate those strategies is a gap in the literature. Preliminary evidence shows that prebriefing can improve participant outcomes. The goal of this pilot study was to compare the outcome of clinical competence for prelicensure nursing students based on assignment to one of the following prebriefing activities: standard, careplan, or concept mapping. Over 10,000 Americans are killed in firearm homicides each year, and an additional 40,000 are injured in nonfatal shootings. There is a significant public health need to identify risk factors that can be modified to prevent firearm violence. Environmental lead exposure is a demonstrated neurotoxicant which causes behavior changes that are known to be criminogenic. More recent research has demonstrated that homicides and nonfatal shootings differ by the circumstances that lead to the shootings (i.e. gang, domestic violence, arguments) and aggregating them could lead to biased results. Exploring Resiliency And Family Functioning For Families Of Premature Infants, Karen Schnackel Gralton

The impact of a premature birth on a family is a crisis requiring a process of adjustment and adaptation. The Resiliency Model of Family Stress, Adjustment and Adaptation (RMFAA) describe this process for families and was the conceptual framework for the current study. A modified model of the RMFAA was used to explore family resiliency for Non-Hispanic Black (NHB) and Non-Hispanic White (NHW) families of premature infants through the identification of protective and recovery factors. The aims of the current study explored the association between protective and recovery factors and family functioning.

Biological mothers of premature infants (< 37 weeks gestational age) and one other family member, who identified as either NHB or NHW were recruited in five separate Level III or IV neonatal intensive care units. Fifty-five NHW (N = 110) and 24 NHB (N = 48) families completed five scales that assessed their use of protective and recovery factors and their perception of family functioning. Mean scores for family functioning indicated that most family members viewed themselves as functioning effectively at that point in time.

Family inclusion in health care delivery is vital for family well-being. However, intensive care (ICU) nurses experiencing frequent ethical conflict, low levels of organizational support and high levels of burnout may not be able to adequately care for families. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships among variables related to the climate of care, nursing family care and family well-being in the ICU setting. The discrepancy between the demographics of the American population and mental health providers means that providers will increasingly be called upon to work with clients who are different from the provider. This study evaluated the relationship between multicultural competence (MCC), ethnic identity, and worldview variables for Master’s level counseling students enrolled in an introductory multicultural counseling course. The aim of this study was to develop an electrochemical sensor for speedy, selective and sensitive detection of lead ion (Pb2+) using graphene oxide and pyrrole nanocomposite. Different combinations of graphene oxide and pyrrole in layers and mixtures were tested for the finest sensitive detection of lead ion (Pb2+). Reduced graphene oxide and polypyrrole (rGO-PPY as layer) nanocomposite modified screen printed electrode (SPE) showed the best signal in response to the differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) with a limit of detection to 5 ppb. Non-human primates often live in social groups that form hierarchies, which can be either egalitarian or despotic. Despotic non-human primate groups are characterized by the ability of dominant members to frequently win dyadic conflicts against subordinates, and egalitarian primate groups are characterized by an unclear ranking of dominance. Non-human primates will often cooperate with each other within their social groups. Cooperation can be defined as the sharing of food, grooming, and formation of alliances. For thousands of years before European contact, the vast deposits of copper in the Lake Superior Basin were exploited by the indigenous population of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and surrounding areas. The copper used and traded by the Native Americans in and around the Lake Superior Basin came from mines on Isle Royale and in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan. Galactic-scale outflows of gas play a significant role in galaxy evolution. They push gas to larger radii, slowing the star formation rate near the center of the galaxy, and increasing it at larger radii. Eventually, these outflows can expel the gas from the galaxy, depositing metals into the intergalactic medium, and limiting star formation in the galaxy. In this study, we demonstrate that the low temperature power capability of a Li-ion battery can be substantially improved not by adding exotic additives into the electrolyte, but by rational design of the composition of the most commonly used solvents. The average lifespan is constantly increasing with the advent of new medical techniques, and age-related cognitive decline is becoming a prevalent societal issue. Even during healthy aging, humans and rats exhibit progressive deficits in episodic/declarative memory. In laboratory rats, age-related memory impairment can be assessed with trace fear conditioning (TFC). Recent research implicates ubiquitin proteasome system-mediated protein degradation in the synaptic plasticity supporting memory formation and retrieval.
