Previous business research indicates that there is a glass ceiling and other obstacles that females face to get to top management positions, specifically a CEO position. The Glass Cliff Phenomenon is a theory coined by Ryan and Haslam (2007) that indicates females are more likely to be appointed to a CEO position in a firm that is in a precarious situation with a high probability of organizational failure. “Recognize Me”: An Analysis Of Transgender Media Representation, Jackson Taylor Mclaren

The representation of transgender people in popular media has been overwhelmingly problematic. Historical representations of transgender characters in fictional television have featured stereotypical and negative portrayals that do not accurately reflect the real experiences of transgender people. Both the quantity and quality of transgender representation across all forms of media is an issue.

This research examines two popular television shows that feature transgender characters. Using a mix methods approach of Content Analysis and Critical Discourse Analysis, the first four seasons of Orange is the New Black and The Fosters are examined. Communicative Barriers To Climate Change Adaptation: Exploring Ideology In The Calgary Herald, John Gould Ba (Hons), Ma

This major research paper explores how climate change is discussed in the Calgary Herald and what some of the potential implications might be for such discourse. I argue that communication about climate change must be altered in order to generate widespread public understanding. First, I argue that climate change must be regarded as an issue of social justice if it is to gain any traction as a social movement. Next, I review the current state of governmental and environmental action within Alberta.
