Basic Needs Adversities Among Counselors In Training: A Cluster Analysis, Jamie E. Crockett, Nathaniel N. Ivers

During the intersection of COVID-19 with ongoing identity-based injustices in the US, Counselors-in-Training (CITs) experience unprecedented challenges including new or exacerbated basic needs insecurity. In this descriptive study, the authors examined Basic Needs Adversities (BNA) in a national sample of CITs (n = 233) during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. The authors used cluster analysis to investigate CITs reported BNAs and identified four subgroups of participants based on similarities and dissimilarities in the number and type of BNAs endorsed. The authors discuss implications for training and supervision with a focus on social justice in counselor education.

Repository Staff Perspectives On The Benefits Of Trustworthy Digital Repository Certification, Rebecca D. Frank

This paper reports on the results from a qualitative study that asks whether and how staff members from TRAC certified repositories find value in the audit and certification process. While some interviewees found certification valuable, others argued that the costs outweighed the benefits or expressed ambivalence towards certification. Findings indicate that TRAC certification offered both internal and external benefits, such as improved documentation, accountability, transparency, communication, and standards, but there were concerns about high costs, implementation problems, and lack of objective evaluation criteria.

Series FACTS devices, such as a Variable Series Reactor (VSR), have the ability to continuously regulate the transmission line reactance so as to control power ow. This research work evaluates the benefits brought by VSRs in different aspects of power system and develops efficient planning models and algorithms to provide optimal investment plan for the VSRs.

First, an optimization approach capable of finding both optimal locations and settings of VSRs under a specific operating condition is developed. The tool implements a full ac model as well as detailed models for different power system components.

This dissertation includes the methodology, implementation, validation, as well as real-time modeling of a load emulator for a reconfigurable grid emulation platform of hardware test-bed (HTB). This test-bed was proposed by Center of Ultra-wide-area Resilient Electric Energy Transmission Network (CURENT) at the University of Tennessee, at Knoxville in 2011, to address the transmission level system challenges posed by contemporary fast changing energy technologies.

Detailed HTB introduction, including design concept, fundamental units and hardware construction, is elaborated. In the development, current controlled three-phase power electronics converter based emulator unit is adopted to create desired power system loading conditions.

The growth of citizen science over the past decade is shown by the increasing number of references to the topic tracked by bibliographic databases such as the Web of Science. The current survey examines the literature on citizen science in the biological and environmental sciences. A number of projects have studied insects and pollinators, avian migration, invasive species, horticulture, marine species, phenology, wildlife behavior, and ecosystems. This work approximates the selective harmonic elimination problem using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to generate the switching angles in an 11-level full bridge cascade inverter powered by five varying DC input sources. Each of the five full bridges of the cascade inverter was connected to a separate 195W solar panel. The angles were chosen such that the fundamental was kept constant and the low order harmonics were minimized or eliminated. A non-deterministic method is used to solve the system for the angles and to obtain the data set for the ANN training. The method also provides a set of acceptable …

Open data is becoming increasingly important in research. While individual researchers are slowly becoming aware of the value, funding agencies are taking the lead by requiring data be made available, and also by requiring data management plans to ensure the data is available in a useable form. Some journals also require that data be made available. However, in most cases, “available upon request” is considered sufficient. We describe a number of historical examples of data use and discovery, then describe two current test cases at the University of New Mexico. The authors report the outcome of a partnership between a university marketing and communications department and a university library. The research aimed to determine whether providing links to institutional digital repository content on location-based social media is a viable marketing approach. Foursquare tips were added to locations on the Texas A&M University campus with links to repository content. The authors subsequently monitored repository traffic using Google Analytics to determine how many users were being referred by the Foursquare service. Research indicates that users will click through links on Foursquare to visit the institutional repository, and that they will explore further …

A person sitting can have 40% higher load on the lumbar spine than when standing. Although the definitions of active power and nonactive power in a three-phase sinusoidal power system have been accepted as a standard, it has been an issue on how to define instantaneous nonactive power in power systems with non-sinusoidal or even non- periodic voltage and/or current.

This dissertation summarizes these nonactive power theories, and a generalized instantaneous nonactive power theory is presented. By changing the parameters in the instantaneous active current and nonactive current definitions, this theory is valid for power systems with different characteristics. Furthermore, other nonactive power theories can be derived from this generalized theory by changing parameters.
