The educational inclusion of disabled people constitutes one of the most relevant educational and pedagogical innovations in the past decades. This article analyses such inclusion at the university level choosing students with deafness as a representative and extrapolative sample. After specifying the main limitations and needs for this group of students, the study revises the solutions put forward by the current legislation and it details in depth, by way of a comparative study, the services provided now by the newly created University Services for the Integration of students with special educational needs. This article presents a research study developed in a Primary School (3 to 12 years) in the county of Murcia (South east of Spain). The study’s aim was to establish the educational response carried out with learners with special education needs in the school. The theoretical framework reviews the course of school integration in Spain and establishes the need to work from a curricular model. The results of this study, which follows the qualitative analysis model by Doyle (1979, 1986, 1987), show the organization structures and tasks that promote participation and integration of students with special education needs in mainstream …

This paper is about the constitution of teacher teams in the Educación Secundaria, something proposed in the Ley Orgánica de Educación (LOE, 2006). First, a discussion of the disadvantages of organizing high schools by academic departments is presented, namely, the tendency of teachers to communicate mainly with those colleagues working in the same curricular area, the difficulties involved in the development of curricular projects that translate into globally coherent school experiences meaningful and relevant for the students, and the repercussions of such structures on the caring and support for students. This study comes out as a step forward in a research line focused on validating empirically a systemic model of university quality. The article defines university quality in terms of three dimensions: functionality, effectiveness and efficiency. The aim of this paper is to analyze the contextual effect of the socioeconomic status (SES) on the academic achievement in Mathematics and Language in Compulsory Secondary Education at the Basque Autonomous Community (Spain). We have carried out a differential study taking into account family SES and school SES in a multi-level study context. First, via tested hierarchical models, the hypothesis of the contextual effects (i.e., double jeopardy) is accepted, showing that the academic achievement of students from low SES families tend to worsen when they attend low SES schools. The development of an educational norm (Charter of Students' Rights and Obligations) in secondary schools in Andalusia is analyzed from the point of view of teachers and educators. To complement the analysis of the documents that regulate secondary schools in the region, a questionnaire with 41 questions was administered to 184 teachers in 24 Andalusian schools. The results, calculated using the CBAM (Concerns-Based Adoption Model), LoU (Level of Use) scale, were then subjected to a descriptive statistical study using measures of central tendency and variability.

This article presents an ethnographic analysis of the social conditions and ideological processes that help understand how students are distributed unequally between private and public schools on the basis of their ethnicity. To do so, it examines the form these mechanisms adopt in a particular area of Madrid (Spain): Vallecas-Puente de Vallecas. This part of the city has undergone dramatic social changes during the last fifty years and has a very intense social history in Madrid. This article analyzes how the patterns of cooperation among different institutions ensure quality professional preparation in terms of the production of an effective and regulated distribution of competencies. For this analysis we apply the comparative methodology of García Garrido to the Spanish and German models of professional development; and we review educational issues related to the administration, management, and supervision of the professional preparation system in the two countries both at the central and regional levels.

It is my aim in this article to carry out a thorough examination of the basic elements, ideology and symbolic representations which constitute the identity of a generation of schoolmistresses belonging to a crucial period in Spanish history: that of the intermediate Francoism, during the process of modernization which took place at the end of the 1950s. The investigation is based on live testimonies of schoolmistresses between the ages of 65 and 70.

This work analyzes equality of access to the university in Galicia (Spain) as it was influenced by the political decision to finance higher education at between 80% and 85% of its real cost. The composition of the student body with respect to the level of their parents' education is examined. The analysis confirms that in spite of the significant effort at public financing, the objective of equal access will not be reached.

The goal of the current work is to analyze educational choice between public and private schools at the pre-primary, primary and secondary levels in Galicia, Spain. We also analyze the relationship between the type of educational institution the children attend and the family income and parents' educational level. The overarching purpose of this work is to learn more about how social inequalities are mediated by public and private educational systems.
