Be Like Me: The Effects Of Manager-Supervisor Alignment, Johanna Anzengruber, Sabine Bergner, Herbert Nold, Daniel Bumblauskas

Purpose: This study examines whether managerial capability fit between line-managers, middle-managers, and top-level managers enhances effectiveness.

Design/methodology/approach: Effectiveness data and managerial capability ratings from more than 1,600 manager-supervisor dyads were collected in the United States and Germany. Polynomial regression was used to study the relation between manager-supervisor fit and managerial effectiveness.

Findings: Our results indicate that the fit of managerial capabilities between a manager and his/her supervisor predicts the effectiveness of this manager. The most effective managers show particularly high managerial capabilities that are in line with predominantly high managerial capabilities of their supervisors. Two aspects are …

The purpose of this study was to better understand how principals in rural schools are thinking about assessment and grading practices and if they anticipate implementing policy changes in the near future that may require increased support. Principals of schools in rural areas often face challenges that are significantly different from those of their urban and suburban counterparts. It is impossible to explicitly state the degree to which mid-contract management (MCM) impacts the benefits that CRP enrollments provide due to the size of the program and variety of management prescriptions. But it is well documented that all native grasslands evolved with some type of ecological disturbance and the relatively good health of the grassland correlates with its disturbance regime. Concomitantly, all grassland bird communities have habitat requirements that evolved in conjunction with disturbance (primarily grazing).

Advances in next-generation sequencing and high-throughput techniques have enabled the generation of vast amounts of diverse omics data. These big data provide an unprecedented opportunity in biology, but impose great challenges in data integration, data mining, and knowledge discovery due to the complexity, heterogeneity, dynamics, uncertainty, and high-dimensionality inherited in the omics data.
