Nearly One-Third Of Granite Staters Expect To Be Worse Off In A Year; Cost Of Living And Inflation Cited As Reasons 5/24/2024, Unh Survey Center

A plurality of Granite Staters think they are worse off financially than they were a year ago and almost one-third expect to be worse off a year from now. The most frequently cited reasons are inflation or the cost of living. Republicans and Independents are considerably more likely than Democrats to be pessimistic about their personal finances. State residents are also pessimistic about the short and long-term macroeconomic outlook of the country at large but are somewhat more optimistic in their expectations for the New Hampshire economy.

Those who anticipate being worse off most often cite the cost of living as a reason. Bay Staters are largely ambivalent in their feelings about the short-term health of the Massachusetts and national economies.

Rhode Islanders are somewhat positive about the state’s economy in the coming year. Kennedy Jr. enjoys support from one in ten likely voters. Voters who do not support Trump think a Trump victory would be a threat to democracy. Most Massachusetts residents believe Trump is guilty of the crimes in his “hush money” case but are not sure he will be convicted. More than half of likely voters in Rhode Island plan to vote for President Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election. However, a majority of Rhode Islanders disapprove of Biden's performance as president, many citing his handling of immigration as a reason they disapprove. Abstract
This study examined the impact of cultural representation on achievement for minority students academically and socially across diverse contexts. Recognizing the importance of cultural diversity in educational and youth mentoring settings, this research explores how the representation of various cultural identities, including race, ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic status, influences student achievement outcomes. Coming from a background in community based nonprofit organizations, I have seen how black and brown students respond in classroom and out-of-school time settings when having come in contact with teachers and mentors of similar culture. Fifteen percent of New Hampshire residents traveled to get a better look at the April 2024 solar eclipse and another 48% took time out of their day to view. Among those who traveled to see the eclipse, half spent more than five hours traveling but nearly all said they were satisfied with their trip. Many who did not travel to see the eclipse said that traffic was the reason.

Four-fifths of Vermont residents took the time to view the April 8th solar eclipse and 17% traveled outside of their local area to see it. Most Vermonters, particularly those who purposefully took time to view the eclipse, saw a total eclipse, while a small number saw only a partial eclipse. Nearly all of those who traveled to see the eclipse were satisfied with their trip.

This article describes methods and findings from a study focused on youth living in rural communities in northern New Hampshire who struggle with accessing STEM learning opportunities for reasons including economic underinvestment and geographical isolation. These challenges also negatively impact researchers hoping to learn how rural youth benefit from informal STEM learning experiences, which contribute to low-project participation and retention rates. As in other amenity-rich rural areas, the communities in this study are promoting outdoor recreation as a vehicle for economic development. Imposter syndrome has been thoroughly studied across fields and disciplines for decades to understand the impact it has on students and professionals in the field. This paper aims to understand the relationship between imposter syndrome and professionals working for residential life departments for colleges and universities while they are living on campus. This study used a mixed methods approach to collect both numeric data as well as a linguistic understanding. This mixed-methods study sought to identify the best practices for educational leaders to promote job satisfaction and retention in the post-pandemic educational landscape. The study utilized both qualitative and quantitative methodologies using data from a unique survey and an
in-depth literature review on effective leadership skills. The analysis of survey data, combined with insights from the literature review, offered a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between teacher retention and educational leadership. Most Granite State residents want a ceasefire in Gaza but majorities believe returning all Israeli hostages and Hamas being removed from power in Gaza should be required. Four in ten New Hampshire residents feel the United States is providing too much aid to Israel. State residents are divided on support for Ukraine in their war with Russia, but are increasingly pessimistic about Ukraine's chances of winning the war. Approval of President Joe Biden's handling of foreign affairs remains low.

Four in five New Hampshire residents think illegal immigration is a serious issue in the U.S., although far fewer think it is a serious issue in New Hampshire. The percentage of residents who think illegal immigration is a serious problem has remained steady since 2011. The greatest concerns about illegal immigration are high costs, that it depletes U.S. resources, and crime. Half favor constructing a wall on the southern border and a plurality believe former President Donald Trump would do a better job handling illegal immigration.

An estimated 6 million children under the age of five in Nigeria (out of nearly 31 million) risk not reaching their full developmental potential. The dearth of context-relevant measures poses a challenge to the planning and implementation of effective interventions. This study assesses the utility of the Early Childhood Development Index (ECDI) in Nigeria. We used the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys to track progress among 3- to 4-year-old children (n = 11,073); 3-year-old, 51%; female, 49%. Less than two weeks away from the primary on Super Tuesday, former President Donald Trump holds a 30 percentage point lead over former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley among likely Republican Primary voters in Vermont. President Joe Biden holds an even larger lead over Minnesota Representative Dean Phillips, though relatively few Democratic primary voters would be enthusiastic if Biden is the party's nominee. Vermonters rate Biden more highly than Trump on several characteristics. Biden's biggest strengths according to Vermont residents are his honesty, integrity, and temperament, though many rate his mental and physical fitness poorly.

The 2024 Maine Presidential Primary is less than two weeks away and more than three-quarters of likely Republican primary voters support former President Donald Trump. President Joe Biden holds an even larger lead on the Democratic side, but likely Democratic voters are less enthusiastic about him becoming the party's nominee. When asked to rate several characteristics of Biden and Trump, majorities rate Biden's temperament, honesty, and integrity more highly than Trump's, but a plurality believe Trump has better mental and physical stamina.
