Effects Of Location, Size, And Animation On The Response Rate To A Promotional Web Banner, Rhett Pono Ferguson

The purpose of this study was to investigate the layout and design of promotional Web banners on a company home page. To accomplish this, three variables; location, size and animation were used to test their effect on the response rate to those banners. Response rates were calculated by dividing the total number of click-throughs to the banner by the total number of visits to the Web pages. In each case, a relationship existed between the variable and the response rate. The results of this study also show that both animation and size can have a positive effect on response rate. …

Housing Location Decision Under Environmental Risk: The Effects Of The Yucca Mountain Waste Repository, Christine Noel Dwyer

Yucca Mountain is the site of a potential high-level nuclear waste repository in Nevada. The risks to health and safety of transporting and storing nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain may induce the residents of Nevada to move. When offered compensation, residents will weigh potential negative effects to their health from transporting and storing nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain against the amount of money offered. The presence of a threshold value between the bid amount offered and the level of risk perception indicates that at some level of risk, people cannot be induced to stay by compensation.
