The thesis of this study is that the goal of political democracy, which was based on Kenya's "African Socialism," has over time fallen in abeyance because the political leaders underestimated possible barriers (such as ethnic-political conflict) when defining the ideas of "African Socialism." This study evaluates Kenya's economic, political, and social systems in operation before white conquest, during colonialism, and after independence. This approach is analytical and explains how the system as a whole functions or fails to function. The issue of absentee ownership of farm land has become increasingly important to the people of Nebraska. At the time of this writing, a movement is underway to seek a constitutional amendment that would prohibit further land acquisition by nonfamily-owned corporations. The movement is led by such organizations as the Nebraska Farmers Union and the National Farmers Organization. Several surrounding states, including North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas, already have enacted similar laws. Twenty-eight million Americans played organized softball in 1981. One out of every ten Americans belonged to some team, in some league, at some level; from California to New York, from Michigan to Florida. The Amateur Softball Association of America promotes softball as the most popularly played team sport in the United States. But softball's popularity is not limited to this nation. Since World War II countries of every size and from every hemisphere have played softball for sport and recreation.
